Hello everyone, I graduated from a PN program in 97 and did not pass my boards. I did not retest but I am eligible to retest. I plan to do that in Nov. I am interested in getting back into nursing but I am being advised by non-medical professionals to start at the MA level. I am currently enrolled in a MA program and I am not interested in that at all. Please help me with some suggestions on how to get back into nursing with my past history. Oh, and by the way none of my PN credits will transfer to any college!

"Who told you to that." Why go backwards, or better yet why waste your time doing the MA, wasting time and money, while you can be going to school, working towards your RN. That's crazy!!!. You will make more as a LVN, starting off, then you would as a MA. You just have to study harder. I am taking my LVN boards next year. I have been preparing for 4 years. I nevered took my LVN boards before, because I'm doing the CNA to LVN method, which the state of California has 5 methods, you can become a LVN. One of the nurses here on the site couldn't use her LVN credits or experience towards her BSN, but she made it, now she has a master's ,and she has a specialty as a Nurse Practitioner. You can do it, you came to right website. GOOD LUCK!!!!

I am a proud mother of three beautyful daughter. I currently live in Los Angeles California. I've worked as a heathecare provider for almost 10 years. I am curently in school to pursue my MSN in nursing, and wants to work as a pediactric nurse, in public health.

Just some things to consider. What have you been doing, in the workforce, for the past decade? What kind of clinical skills do you feel you still have? Do you think that after all this time, if you passed your boards, you could function as a nurse? How marketable will you be? I'm not saying you should go the MA route, but maybe research the availability of "Nurse Refresher" courses designed for Nurses reentering the workforce after a hiatus.

Hi I am an LVN and have been a CMA. It is not worth doing the MA program. It will cost you more and will not pay enough to even it out. There are alot of resources out there to help you study for boards. You can buy study guides and type NCLEX-PN practice test in to google. There are some free sites and some that you have to pay for. I hope this helps.

Can you re-test after 10 years?
