Posted over 4 years ago I'm a new grad (September). I recieved a job offer less than a week after I graduated. I was offered lower pay, but negotiated an addtional $2 an hour. The postion has NO benefits, no paid holidays, nothing. The holidays are coming up and I will be out of work for 4 days at Thanksgiving and TEN (!) days at Christmas. Plus, I feel like I'm working for less than I should be. HOW DO I KNOW? |

| Posted over 4 years ago I think it depends on your contract you agreed to, but dont quote me. PRN can sometimes be paid more/hr but there are no benefits involved. I'd go check your contract and ask HR to go over it with you. At most places I have worked at, time off, especially for the holidays can depend on your hire date. Some places wont do time off for holidays until you finish a probationary period with an eval.............that period could be from a month to 3 monthes sometimes. Good luck. | Posted over 4 years ago For me to give an opinion, need to know what type of employment this is. Is it a school nurse? Hospital? LTC? Drs office? |

| Posted over 4 years ago This job was advertised as Full time, but unless I work the 4 hour shift on Saturday, I only get 30 hours. It is a specialist's office. I feel like I was sold a bill of goods and wasn't savvy enough to see it. |

| Posted over 4 years ago NO ONE is the office is paid for holidays. That is not going to change. On the holidays, the doctor and his office manager wife takes their family overseas, so every major holiday is like this. I was told that holidays weren't paid, but I though they'd be closed for a day or two, not long stretches like that. |

| Posted over 4 years ago Well, it looks like you might just have to eat the time off for the holiday with your current employer. Have you thought of seeing about aPRN agency work...........I wouldnt recommend agency work at this point in the hosp, but maybe you could do some sort of triage in the md office area........some agencies staff that too. | Posted over 4 years ago I'm not talking about what I'm worth. I'm talking about a fair wage compared to others doing a similar job with my experience (6 years as a Momitor tech in the ICU before nursing school). |

| Posted over 4 years ago I found out last week that they are paying another new LPN with no prior work experience at all (much less in healthcare) the same amount they are paying me. I'm going to miss at least 70 hours in December because they are going to be closed so much for Christmas and going overseas for the holidays. If I could find another job at this point, I would take it. |
