Posted over 4 years ago Ok gang, I have a question for all you nurses. Keep in mind I DO NOT have health insurance. After I had my daughter I got on the depo shot for means of birth control. I started to get a lot of pain and the doc thought maybe it was cysts and that the depo only makes those worse. So I have been off the depo shot for almost 2 years now. Problem is I continue to have extremely irregular periods. I never know when it will hit. I have 2 or three a month, some that last all month, sometimes I skip a month, and it is very heavy, sometimes large clots come with it.I have such awful cramps and sometimes that radiate to my back. The cycle I am on now started on the 25th of october. It is now the 18th of november. Sorry if this was tmi. Just wondering what to do. Oh and my husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for a year and no results. I know I know no insurance. But my doc fees and the stay at the birthing center are less than the deductible for pregnancy on the insurance plan. |

| Posted over 4 years ago Are you preg? If not how old are you? Are you having bleeding now, how heavy, light? Do you have a public health center where you live? You can see a Nurse Practitioner usually there, free or cheap. It could be that you haven't leveled out yet with your hormones and may need some, or somekind to help the bleeding stop. Obviously, you probably do not want to hear this, but you need to see someone. Are you anemic? Tired alot, cold etc... |

| Posted over 4 years ago No not pregnant. I am 23. I am tired alot. Right now the bleeding is pretty light but it has been going on for I while so I think it's getting ready to stop. For now. We do have a place I can go that just sends a bill instead of paying upfront, but I hate going there because, well I hate to say it but I am not poor and I am not hispanic. You never get to see the same doc. when you go in and you wait for hours for them to see you because they do not accept appts. |

| Posted over 4 years ago IM sorry to hear you are having troubles like this...I have had a tubal but am on Depo..not for birth control but because I was having painful periods and cramping and bad headaches. I have been on Depo for over 5 years now..I go in for my yearly and Since Depo I have never had another period or pain..It was my godsend. You really do need to see someone if you are still experiencing symptoms like this after having been off Depo for two years. Have you had a pap and yearly physical..labwork? I know you said something about no insurance..so save those pennies woman and get inthere and have a complete well woman physical and get some answers. HUGS

| Posted over 4 years ago Okay, just go to the clinic so you do not rack up a big bill, or make an appt with a MD and risk a big bill. You do not have to be hispanic to go, so just go... Y ou could have something more serious wrong, and perhaps not. In any case, you need to see a doctor or nurse practitioner. Let us know how it turns out... best of luck |

| Posted over 4 years ago Sounds like you may have an infection, or need a D&C? Either way, need to go see a gyn, insurance or not. Good luck...Diane |

| Posted over 4 years ago Are you trying to get pregnant to stop the symptoms? Not judging mind you, but in Endometriosis, they actually used to recommend it. If it is endometriosis, better be seen, it can spread outside of the reproductive organs. Can you apply for free care at your hospital? You don't have to be poverty level or eh, ethnic. The clinics are for all people who can't afford health insurance. In my city, we have so many people from so many places that there is no "ethnic" any more. Do what you gotta do. |

| Posted over 4 years ago No, trying to get pregnant because I want to be. No offense taken, I do not think you were being judgemental. That was an honest question. |

| Posted over 4 years ago BTW, I went to the clinic I spoke of in earlier posts and asked them to do my yearly, which I told them I haven't had in two years and told them everything that was going on. The Doc refused to give me a D & C because he said it was not an emergency situation. Now I am no dummy, especially when it comes to my own body but he would not listen to what I had to say and downplayed everything. Told me it was still from the depo. He wouldn't even do any bloodwork to check for anemia. THAT IS WHY I HATE THAT PLACE! I left crying and you can be darn sure I am not paying that bill! |
