Though I am not a nurse, I also was interested in the book so I did some checking. Here is what I found:

I have a Ph.D. in Health Communication.  I bought the book. Very interesting.  It's a compendium of health related and medical books and peer reviewed journal article results on a variety of topics that interest me, thyroid, stroke, alzheimer, arthritis, insulin, weight gain/loss, ear wax, hearing, eye sight.  You can read the results of the studies wihtout having to go to a medical library and getting the information.

It's 543 pages without the index.  I find it to be a very good reference. Now, it is not exhaustive.  topics such as weight loss at various ages, say 20'2, 40's 60's for both premenopausal and post menopausal women is not there (I have not fund it), but I found a study using food scents for losing weight, participants in the studey loss 30 lbs on average over a 6 month period!

Yes, I will recommend it. It's not an Encyclopedia, keep that in mind.
