Foreign Graduate Nurses who wants to take the NCLEX can apply to the BRN (State of California)
I just spoke with the representative of the BRN- CA; foreign graduate nurses (ex. Filipino who graduated Nursing in the Philippine School system) can apply to take the NCLEX even if the person did not take the Philippine Nursing Board Examination. Of course you have to present legal status in the UNITED STATES (ex. even tourist visa, student visa is fine. For illegal alien – don’t even think because the U.S. Immigration will deport you knowing you are illegal). Then you need to present your School Diploma and an Official Transcript of Records from the school you graduated to the BRN – CA.
If you have questions, you can call California Board of Nursing at 916-322-3350. Hope it clears-up all the confusions in this forum.
