Posted over 4 years ago Okay Ladies and Gentlemen are you seeing what i'm seeing? We are in so much trouble. People thought the MEDICAL FIELD was untouchable. We as medical proffessionals would always be employed. Have you all seen whats happening RN's working as LPN's LPNs working as PCTs. Hospitals and facilities are not hiring as much. Floating tired already employed employees because of all the econimical crisis. We need to tell the government that instead of bailing out the businesses they need to help the PEOPLE because fixing the companies is not going to fix the problem if we don't have jobs, money, housing, food, health insurance then how is fixing the companies going to fix the problem? YOU HAVE TO FIX THE PEOPLE FIRST DUH COMMON SENSE!!!!!! |

| Posted over 4 years ago I will never understand where the myth came from that the medical field is exempt when it comes to recession. That is only one reason why I laugh when I hear someone say “you can always find a job” or “you make good money” when they speak of the nursing field.

| Posted over 4 years ago There have been more than one era of time that nurse's jobs, unlike Senate Seats, could not be bought. |

| Posted over 4 years ago I dont get the government bail outs for Wall Street and now the automakers. They are all greedy and how much money do the executives of these companies make? More than us average people. Why should we bail them out? GM should have thought ahead and been progressive making more economical cars. Producing all these huge SUV's and trucks and now noone can afford to buy them. They should start with us the average and bail us out first! |

| Posted over 4 years ago I work for 7 Doctors and 3 NPs at an OB GYN office, whose schedules up until recently were so jammed full that there was no time to even go the bathroom. We have so many open spaces in the schedules...alot of patients don't want to spend the 40.00 copay when they can go to their regular Doctor for a 15.00 or 20.00 copay or "try" and treat it themselves for less. It makes you sit back and really look, it shows that no one is safe really. |

| Posted over 4 years ago My husband graduated from the Army Radiology Specialist program, and is a Nationally Registered Rad tech (ARRT (R) )....3 classes short of a degree, and he's working as a transporter in a hospital. He was told that there were 17 applications for ONE entry level Rad Tech..and some of the ones applying for the entry level had Bachelors with 10 plus years experience.....He's working on his degree, and additional certifications, and hoping for something to open up...... |

| Posted over 4 years ago I've been a nurse almost 25 years, and can only seem to get agency per-diem work right now. In Galveston, Hurricane Ike forced UTMB a teaching hospital to lay off 3000 employees. I've applied for several resource pool positions only to be told that they have a glut of applications and HR is overwhelmed. I'm told by several nurses and my patients that I am an excellent nurse. How ironic, I can't seem to get a steady position. It's not for lack of trying either. Every time I work agency I tell administrative people and nurse managers how I've applied and gotten one call with a promise for an interview 1 month ago! I've tried to call this HR person over and over only to get automated systems with no return calls. What nursing shortage? It really is quite annoying. Claire Kruszka |
