I have been a CNA when i didn't even know it. I took care of my grandmother for 5 years and CNA knowledge would have helped me. But i took classes and now have been employed for bout 3 years now. I am taking my prequites for nursing prgm. I am Native American, so i want to be closer to home, work at the local hospital is my goal.

I think that it is great that you took care of your grandmother. I know that now that I am a cna I wish that I would have been able to take care of my mom and dad before they passed on but I did not take the class until 3 years ago and they have been gone for 5 years with my dad and my mom has been gone for 12 years. I think that you will do great at your local hospital.

One of the best accidents that happened to me is becoming a CNA.I was so afraid of sick and old people before I becameone.I couldn't bear to be around them. But after my daughter was born and when my husband was ill the knowledge was invaluable. It has also helped me to apprecate the value of family a liitle bit more.

After being a CNA I was better able to care for my children!
The classes were invaluable throughout everything I have done in regards to cleanliness for their surroundings, touching them, hugging them, making good eye contact, listening skills, positive encouragement, empathy and compassion.

When my mother in law needed care I was able to communicate with the Doctor and keep her at home surrounded by her children and grandchildren until her life's journey ended.

Amazing you have to have a liscense to drive a car, be old enough to drive and vote, have a liscense to open a bubble gum machine, but you don't have to have one to be a parent!

My CNA liscense enhanced my ability to be a better mother.
