Posted over 4 years ago Do you crochet or knit? If so please consider helping the Special Olympics outfit their athletes and sponsors with warm handmade scarves for the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games. They need at LEAST 5,000 scarves to arrive before January 15, 2009! (Sorry, I know that isn't much time, especially with the holidays upon us.) There are only 2 rules: 1. You MUST use Red Heart worsted weight yarn in Delft Blue (#885) AND White (#311). These colors perfectly match the Special Olympics logo. 2. The scarves must measure 5 3/4 in. wide (at minimum, but please no more than 7 in.) and 60 -64 in. long (or more, but don't make it WAY too long). That's it! You can use any pattern you like as long as you follow these 2 rules. If you would like to participate but don't have a pattern please e-mail me here on the Link and I'll be happy to give you one for crochet or knit. You may make as many as you like as well. Also, if you would like to attach personal notes or cards to express your best wishes PLEASE DO! Just be sure to attach it VERY well to the scarves. Thank you for the help, the athletes will appreciate it! The address to send the scarves is as follows:
2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games Scarf Project 3150 West Main Street Boise, Idaho 83702
*********REMEMBER THE DEADLINE FOR ARRIVAL IS JANUARY 15, 2009!!!!!********** |
