Posted over 4 years ago what is to be a filpino nurse?well, based on experience it is a fun, hard, tiring but inspiring profession...a Flipino nurse when asked why they took up nursing as a profession will most probably asnwer " Kasi uso", "Kasi gusto kong mag abroad", " Kasi maraming taong nangangailangan ng mag aalaga sa kanila". But whatever the reasons why taking up nursing, all I know is that more Filipino choose this course because we, Filipinos ay natural na maalaga..that's why, IN DEMAND TAYO,,,,proud to be PINOY... at times, life never seems to be the way we want it... But we live it the best way we can ... There's no perfect life, but we can feel it with perfect moments... |

| Posted almost 4 years ago Agree to that too. It is in our upbringing, it is in the culture, to be hospitable, be courteous, always have a smile rain or shine, dependable, and resourceful, etc. |

| Posted almost 4 years ago You are correct Judith. Five years ago I took a tour of Hospitals in SE Asia and i found everyone at the hospital I visited in Manilla to be just that....hospitable, courteous dependable and alwayus smiling. As a matter of fact ir wasn't just nurses. I found everyone to be like that. One of our best nurses just took a leave of absence and returned to the Philippines to take care of her mother who is extremely ill. Everyone misses her and I am hoping that she comes back. I miss her positive attitude and smile. John L. Racher RN, BSN, MSRN-BC

| Posted almost 4 years ago a WWII vet recently told me about staying at the hospital in Manila for over a year during WW II. He saw a lot of ... stuff, if you know what I mean. He did have a lot of good things to say about the care he got from the nurses, and he credits them with saving his life. He also told me something I had not heard before, and I thought I knew a lot about WWII. He said that over 1000 Jews were rescued by Filipinos during WWII. Imagine that. I hope that somebody knows more about that and can share with us. |
