Hi my name is Beth. I have been a nurse for years and can't think of anything I would ever want to do. My career has consisted of ICU,CCU,Mental Health,LTC,Assisted Living and last but not least chemical dependency nurse. Guess I have done it all and loved it. I was married 4yrs ago and kinda retired (if a nurse ever does) Now I am ready to get back to the best job in the world...nursing! It is such a rewarding thing for me. I have missed it, especially the friendship of the nurses I have worked beside.

Hey Everyone! I have been an LPN now for 2 1/2 years. I first became an LPN because it was less schooling and I wanted to make sure that Nursing is really what I wanted to do. Now, I Love Nursing. I want to go back to school and become an RN, but the time never seems to be right for a lot of reasons. I hope by talking with different Nurses on this site that it will help me along my Journey and decision making. My ultimate Nursing Career is to be in ER, Trauma, Surgery (OR), or even a Flight Nurse, I am fascinataed with all those specialtys, Nursing Link came to me, because I was searching on Career Builders for a New Nursing Job. I am from the Midwest and there are not a whole lot of opportunities to work as an LPN except for Long Term Care (Nursing Homes), At least I have not found them anyway. Hi LeaLea1995, my name is Demetrice, I currently work as a hospital technician, and I'm pursing a Rn program too. I know how you feel, I have three daughters, I am the primary provider all for them and plus I have 2 jobs. Although they are older, I still have to participate in their school activities, tomorrow Hililary Clinton is going to show up at my 14 year old school . I am a parent volunteer, I am in charge of all the flowers, and I have to also help out in the office. I know,going to school, working, and being a full time parent is very difficult that's the sacrifice we have to make as parents. What I suggest to you, is to save! save! save!. I use to do doubles. Maybe you can do some overtime sometime once in a while.

Yes Sandy52. Some heathcare facilities have reimbersment programs. I know where I use to work, the Retirement and Care Center offer education reimbersment. All you had to do was show them a copy of your scheldule of classes. They will reimberse all pass classes, that were pertaining towards continue education classes in nursing.

My name is Beth, I am new to this site. I have been an RN for 12 years, started my first few years working in medsurg unit in Chicago. We moved here in WA state and I landed a job at a state hospital. Because I work night shift, I went back to school and just finished my RN-MSN degree in December 2006. I got promoted as a nursing supervisor 7 months ago. I am also thinking of opening a staffing agency in a few months.

 Hello everyone, 

I came onto this site because I just took the NCLEX and I needed some support from fellow nurses after such a stressful test. I still have not found out my results. I finished in 76 questions. i heard that 86% pass the first time and that finishing at 76 is usually a good sign, but I still am a little nervous about checking my grade.

Did anyone else get really nervous during the test? I had never gotten this nervous for a test before. I'm glad its over.

Hi everyone my is Jeanette, I have always wanted to be a nurse, but life got in the way, married, raising kids, helping with the grandkids, then I lost my great husband of 28 years to cancer, and I had to go outside of the home to find work, I then met someone, recently remarried and he is very encouraging and supportive, so I am now going to drop my full time status, to part time just enough work to keep my spot, and I start the LPN program 3 weeks.  I love this site very informative and just plan fun.

Thank you for the wonderful welcome and friendship on NL. Here is my story: I am going to nursing school as probably a 4th or 5th career. How I directly got here is nothing short of amazing. I have a BS in Business Management (1983.. yeah, count it) and have worked in Insurance, Claims, Banking and Customer Service. Most recently, I was a bank branch manager and had an Area Manager that originated from the southeast corner of Hell. Needless to say, it didn't take her long to get rid of me. I was terminated on 9/11/2007. As a result, I was blackballed from the banking industry. To the point that I had 14 interviews with one bank then they told me that I wasn't selected. Lost all my worldly goods and was unemployed. I finally got a PT job as a Pharm Tech in a hospital at a 3rd of my salary. Worked my way up to a FT tech in another hospital. Began to take science courses and got accepted in the RN program this past Spring semester (HOORAH!) It's a challenge, but I believe I was called to do this. It seems as if everything was moved aside so this can happen. My life has definitely changed for the better... Hugs to all!
