It isn't just a matter of paying off the bills.  Sometimes that can make us feel as if we only dogpaddle; going down for the last time.  It is about learning how to dream big.  Which makes me wonder if that isn't the divine plan here.  It merely isn't enough to take care of me and mine.  But there's the rub.  Whose dream am I living,. mine or someone else's?

My discussion should NOT be tried on by those who are in a marriage.  I am not.  In the case of those who are married...(albeit often wishful), dreams are meant to be shared.  It used to be that people  got "hooked up" BECAUSE they shared similar dreams.  Today...not so much.  I, personally, think this is a BIG problem.  Yeah, only me and Kathy Lee Gifford feel that way, I guess.  (She made an argument on TV  in favor of "dating" before "hooking up" which was not widely received by some.  Not me, I'm with ya on that point, Kathy!)

The "joie de vivre" is being able to 'have' a dream.  Some of us missed picking up that card when we passed "go".  Am I the only one who finds herself way down the line, trying to grasp the paddle back to my dream?  The river does go on forever, but the time I get to spend on planet Earth does NOT.

My main point is that I never learned to dream...except when sleeping  The closest I have ever come to it  is in personally planned benevolence.  If you can feel the pain of another,...hopefully many nurses here can, then you can begin to let yourself dream by thinking of what it would be like to see that special one happy and healthy AND to be personally able to make a choice to help them.

Benevolence isn't benevolence in the Robin Hood scenario.  I don't believe in THAT.  To me, government madated 'giving' is stealing not only a person's money, but their right to choose.

If some of the nurses out there feel even partly in agreement with my feelings, it would be nice to hear from you.

I see why you don't understand...The title of the blog is "What would you do if you won the lottery?"  My point is, answering the question well involves 'dreaming bigger'.  I can allocate every dime with NO PROBLEM.  The challenge is knowing where the BEST place for it to be spent is.

Yes, I am talking about the use of "money".  Some of us get so busy in our lives, doing for and fulfilling the dreams of others, we fail to take the time to fully paint out a pic of what "our dream" really is.  I guess that in spite of all my questions about my life, I never want to be someone else.  I understand that my life is a gift in itself.

But isn't that the best part about having dreams and aspirations is that they are constantly changing!!! I guess I have always had dreams and I think that they have always been big dreams, whether they include other people or not is my choice because my dreams are just that...MY DREAMS!  I think that part of growing up and growing as a person is realizing that your dreams are accomplishable or that they are impossible.  Sometimes this means changing those dreams to fit your situation, whether you are a single person with dreams that only include you, dreams to save the world or dreams for the greater good, when you have a family and people in your life that you truly love and care about they become part of your dreams too! Your dream may not be truly about them but you consider how your dreams will effect them in the end!

Having YOUR OWN dreams that evolves with your life changes is a good point.  If liposuction is it...go for it!

To each his own.

Hey Jeannie,

You seem to be a fan of words & poetry... Your profile states an interest in blogging - do you write one? I'd be curious to read more about your thoughts...

In regards to dreams, I feel that I can feel & be completely free in my dream world.  Whether it is my dream I am living & fantasizing about is not the question for me. Rather I'd like to know whose life I've lived thus far & where I am headed next... There are different theories of life & death - one I like to play with currently is that our souls live on & continue their paths within another body after the current one has "expired". So much for your question whose dream you're living - it might be yours after all, just in another century, body & era!

Cheers, Julie

Thanks Julie.  I appreciate your comments here.  In answer to your question, yes I write one occasionally at http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-FCWpCks7drH0YnGAuQUSdJtd_lA3;_ylt=ApjDCOEYoT1wxjqvj9m22basAOJ3

but I only get there to write periodically.

I appologize if the rambling rants herein have caused a mental strain to casual passers-by.  The purpose is, hopefully, to make you reconsider your first answwer to "What would you do if you won the lottery?" by including yourself in a larger view of life opportunity.  For any that are working long shifts, I think this should be a taste of "thought freedom".  (When we are so constantly busy, our thoughts tend to run in well-worn ruts about who we are and what we would like.)

I guess I must concur that 'winning the lottery' is for most people, already, Dreaming Bigger.  I hope to be picked to attend as a contestant on the "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" game show.  On that game, One Million is the TOP PRIZE.  I guess this puts "winning the lottery" in a different perspective.

To give an update, I didn't pass the group audition screen test (for the "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" game show.  The good news is I can try again at the end of September 2009!

If I won the lottery I would quit work that moment... get a type qualification in a Grumman G5 and move to the south of France with an apartment in Madrid to summer in.

Would I give any away? Sure I would donate enough money to the university from which I obtained my BSN and MSN that they would have to name a  professorship the  John H " Johnny the Wad" Holmes professor of nursing.

You surely don't need any coaching on "Dreaming Bigger!"
