I have seen several discussions about Medical Assistants, some good and some make me feel like I should be working at McDonalds because.....MA's aren't worth a crap.  What do you all think?  I am a proud MA!!

MA's are soooooooooooooo important and appreciated.  Please dont let grumpy people's posts make you feel otherwise!   Of course MA's should be allowed on NL.

I agree you are also an important part of the patient's life and you assist the doctor which makes everyone's life better, so I vote YES!

A busy RN is here

I think they should welcome. We all are here to help patients. It is important to have medical assistants in the doctor's office and wherever they work.

Yes MAs should be on here. no wherehave I ever seen anyone on this link say the MAs, CNAs, or LPNs are craap execpt for the CNS, MA, or LPN. I did suggest that NL verify the status of those on here as being in the field by license or certification (or school). That would keep the whackos out of here

Why shouldn't they, they're doing a medical service also. I'm not a nurse (aspiring), but if I can't hack it, then medical assisting is my next choice.

I totally agree. MA's, Physicians, and Respiratory therapy, and etc. are all allied health which can work with patients. So course MA's should be allowed to be on nursinglink. I do agree with the screening of cert, and licenses to be allowed to chat on this site. It will keep all the cookoooll's back in there clocks LOL.

I was just trying to point out that the work we do is just as important as the other medical team members...

Hi All,

I am a medical assistant and LOVE my job. Of course medical assistants NEED to be on here. I am a nursing student and and there is no other place where we can go and get the accurate and updated information about nursing and healthcare in general. I have made some wonderful friends (such as cdnurse) who have given me the great advice.

I am a  nursing student and an MA. I enjoy this site it is very educational and interesting. I think any one participating in healthcare carreer should be intitled to veiw this site. I am studying to be an LPN. I always remember what my instructor always reminds us of. Some RN's have said to me oh you are studying to be "just" an LPN. We all are not "just" anything. We all contribute to the care of clients and patients and without one there wouldn't be any other. I don't understand why some people always have to judge others or label them. I think everyone working together is what they call a "healthcare team".Isn't it ???

Wow- I came across this and I just had to reply!  What a nasty comment!  Of course medical assistants should be allowed- many are professional, competant members of the health care team!  Why even bother to say something so rude? Many RN students are also MAs or dialysis techs or CNAs- we all get our "start "somewhere. (if you so choose to view it this way)  This site should be a place where we can share our experience and knowledge- in whatever medical role we are in- and encourage and build each other up!  There is enough backbiting and nasty comments in nursing as it is!

Yes, MA's, CNA's, PCT's, LPN's should be able to be on this site.....they are valuable members of the healthcare team and they are needed. Especially if they respect and care about their profession. We should not hate on each other....nursing is a "caring" profession....and we should not look down on anyone because of what letters are behind their name.

I think they should, they put up with all the verbal and mental, phsyical abuse that  RN LPN"S and evey one else does I think there valuable to the community. We all have to start some where and work our way up . I do think some times there are random wakkos who join to cause drama and Bs on the  web link and that should not be tolorated this is a caring community and I want to be able to enjoy my time with other professionals and continue to have a safe and educational experience.

we all have to support each other there is enough space on the link for every nursing professional to express themselves and ask questions pertaining to the medical field I have learned a great deal here and have found the support I need, and have the strength to continue what I am doing  at times it is not easy to be at the bottom of th nursing food chain the bigger fish tend to nip at work.... Little fish tooo!    We all have good days and Bad......... this profession is all about team work and compassion, and responsibility.

(dont get me wrong I love our RN's LPN's)

You most certainly should be on here. You work in healthcare right? Then enough said. It takes all titles for the healthcare field to run. Right down to housekeeping. Everyone's job is important. I couldn't have made it through some of my 12 hr shifts without ancillary staff.

Don't let anybody rain on your parade. If you do your job and are proud of what youv'e accomplished, who cares what anyone else thinks?

I AM A CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT and I am thankful for the Nursinglink. By chatting with other healthcare professionals, I have learnt a great deal about the medical field. I feel confident now that all my hard work will pay off. and when the time comes, I too will be an RN.

They deserve to be here.  They are part of the medical community and if a person who is only considering nursing can be here why can't a person who is in the medical feild in any shape or form be here.

Our service to others is the rent we pay while here on earth!!

Of course MA's should be allowed on nursing link. They are part of the health care field. There are people on here who are not in healthcare. They are thinking about going into it, and are getting a lot of fine advise from others here. If we start to exclude people because they are not nurses, many potential nurses and other health care personel may not enter the field.

Wow, 26 replies and not a single one thinks they should not be allowed. I think that is great.
