Limiting membership to nurses would mean diminishing the variety of input in the discussions. On Police Link you must provide proof that you are a law enforcement officer.

Medical Assistant do about the same tasks as a nurse, the key word is assistant. Medical Assistants are very important to the healthcare industry.

I have been a medical assistant for 6 1/2 years!  I think that MA's shoud definitely be allowed on this site. We are all professionals in the healthcare field... as such we should act professional and give everyone from MA's, CNA's, LVN's, RN's, to Drs's the respect they rightfully deserve.

I am also taking some GE and Pre-requisites for Nursing as well. I am hopeful that I will be ready to apply for 4-year nursing program in 2-3 years. I do work three days a week, and have my youngest daughter in high school. I look forward to becoming a nurse and have always wanted to be a nurse for as long as I can remember. Becoming a Medical Assistant was the next best thing for me and has allowed me to meet so many fabulous people, and gain a world of experience too. I love what I do and I hope that everyone realizes that we are all apart of  a Team. Our goal is to take the best care of our patients that we know how to do!

Also, I volunteer in the ER department at a near by hospital on my two days off. I have also learned a lot there too. People think I am crazy working there for free but, I love it and have learned so much! Also, I can apply that to my resume with letter of recommendations as well when I apply for the nursing program. Please remember that we share a common goal and that is giving our patients the best care that you would want given to you, or your family members. All of us!

I would not want to do most medical jobs with any of the team missing. That includes environmental services. As a former Marine I can assure you everybody has a job. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

I agree with mrbrownrn49.

I was a Hospital Corpsman with the Marines and I did everything the Marines did plus my medical job.  And Marines did some medical stuff along with their jobs.

My point here is, There is a more stark difference in my example, than in most of the previous discussions.  But the similarity is that we worked as a team to accomplish a greater goal.  To do that, I became a weapons and anti-guerrilla expert to round out my abilities and the abilities of my team.

If having MA's on this site helps the greater good of our patients, WHAT'S THE PROBLEM WITH THAT?

In my own opinion, they should be allowed, because they also need to voice out their own views and they also form an important part of the healthcare

Of course, medical assistance should be allowed to be on nursing link. As people really do participate in discussion and help a great deal to other members and people to resolve their concernede matters. Which is somehow need to be appreciated.
