Hi all,

I am in a dual Master's Program and will hopefully graduate in Feb 2010. I was blessed that  I was able to fully pay my diploma and BSN degrees while pursuing my degrees. I wish to go into nursing education for my hospital

I have done research and applied for several scholarships but without success. My employer gives a very small reimbursement which will not even make a dent in the loan payback. With myself and two children in college (another graduate program and a BS and I am a single parent) finding resources to cover my debt would be a great relief. I will have about 35K to pay back.

In these times of a nursing shortage, I am surprised the government does not have forgiveness programs or other options to pay for those of us with experience who wish to pursue higher degrees as well as impart our knowledge and experience to those entering the profession.

I thought perhaps many of you have had success in obtaining funding to pursue your degrees.

Guidance in this journey is greatly appreciated. I'm sure others are facing the same challenge.

I believe there are forgiveness programs if you are willing to teach at a university after graduation. In most places the requirements is 3-5 years of teaching in exchange of "forgiveness". My advice to you is to apply for the hospital scholarship where you work. It helps, too even though it is not a lot.

Good luck!
