Posted over 4 years ago Is there anyone as frustrated with nursing right now as I am? I want to some how figure out a way to give a voice to the nurses here in Houston. They are so passive and let everyone walk all over them. Doctors, administration, and sometimes patients. I love the majority of my patients, but I'm really loathing the profession. The abuse and disrespect is more than I can stand. Anyone have any ides on how to possibly start a grass-roots campaign to teach nurses how to stand up for themselves, and each other? There is power in numbers and I just can't imagine that I'm the only nurse feeling this way. I'm tired of bitching and doing nothing, but I don't know where to start. Are there any nurses out there who can enlighten me or give me an idea in regards to starting some type of orginization? Or, how do I get some action and motivate fellow nurses to speak up and say "We're mad as hell and not gonna take it anymore!" Any input would be graetly appreciated. Please don't do as one inconsiderate nurse I worked with, and tell me to just retire.I feel something could be accomplished here if I just knew how to go about it. Claire Kruszka |

| Posted over 4 years ago I am not sure about everything you said, but I too am having a difficult time "loving" my job at the moment. As an LPN in a nursing home i feel like my hip is superglued to med cart. I am not really helping anybody. Did I really go to school to do this? I have been so frustrated with myself because I just cant hardly stand doing the same thing day in and day out. I just might have a breakdown if I don't do something about it soon. I can't quit because as an LPN I can't work in a hospital. I still have another year plus of school left to finish my RN. I just want to scream!!! Any Ideas on how to keep my sanity right now? "Softly. deftly, music shall caress you. Feel it, hear it, secretly possess you...." |

| Posted over 4 years ago This is crappy. I have always been anti union <mostly because of the recent economic crisis for big 3 auto makers>. Obviously I shouldnt compare apples to oranges. I think the only way to fix things or to just improve things for nursing is to do the union thing. I'm a closet pro union person...........Im in the south so this subject is taboo here. OR we could learn to mix paint at Home Depot and learn to grow our own food? We only have one heart, take care of it! Angie |
