My name's Deb, I graduated in June, 2008. I joined Nursing Link for the support. So far, I love reading what everyone posts. I am not practicing yet, I have been unable to find a job. I'm in the Chicagoland area, and I'm getting desperate =(  I loved every minute of clinical in nursing school... the tests and lectures, I could do without... ok maybe not, or I wouldnt have learned enough to BE a nurse.. the point is, I love nursing, and it makes me sad that I am not practicing.  I will currently work in any facility in order to start paying down my loans and bills, but my passion is Labor and Delivery.  hmmm, what else? My developmentally disabled little brother lives with me. I am working on undoing a lot of what society does to mentally handicapped individuals (ie learned helplessness, etc) so that he may have some hope to living and independant and happy life.  Come say hi, and be my friend!!

Hi Deb!

Welcome! It sounds like some day you might be interested in working as a psych nurse too.

That was always my favorite nursing specialty, and I got to work with a variety of developmentally disabled people. Ver y rewarding!

Good luck in finding a job - you'll do it!

I wouldn't be opposed to it. I'd need to have some experience under my belt to feel comfortable though. I was only on psych for 6 weeks, and had several scary experiences. But i do have a place in my heart for those with mental illnesses.
