Not sure if it's this way everywhere, but in Texas, if you have had any legal charges filed against you, you have to file a Declaratory Order with the Board of Nursing prior to your background check to explain any charges.  Has anyone else had to do this?  I am freaking out over what to expect, how long it takes, etc....Has anyone else gone through this?  Thanks!

How long it takes depends on your State's Board. Some are hopelessly backed up with work, others aren't. Only someone from your state who is dealing with a similar situation would know the situation there.

Each case is always considered individually. The nature of the charges is usually the critical issue. It also depends on the rest of your record (hopefully no other charges or convictions) and how long ago the offense occurred.
