Posted over 4 years ago Deb, I agree............its going to take more than the President to fix things. I think a good start would be to get rid of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Barney Frank. I think HIllary Clinton will be a good Sec. of State...................can we get rid of Bill before she goes? We only have one heart, take care of it! Angie

Posted over 4 years ago I agree with AngelT6. As a Christian, I believe that it wil be the Glory of God that will change this country around. Man lives by the will of God, and he has blessed us with a man to get this country to think and take action on improving itself. Its going to be a long, slow process. It took us 8 years to get into this mess, it may take just as long to get us out. I believe Obama is the change we need. God Bless America.

Posted over 4 years ago I am a Christian too, but feel that any man with a such liberal platform frightens me. Who knows what he can do with things such as in 3rd term AB, embryonic stem cells? True Christians do not support ones so Liberal.

Posted over 4 years ago I have a bad, bad feeling about him.... although I am not judging him. But all I can do is pray for him and hope that he makes the right decisions. jaynekae.... how can a father of two support such things? It's taken a lot more than 8 years to get the country where it is today- try 16 years.

Posted over 4 years ago America is caught up I believe in a frenzy of "Obamanize change " Do I think he is the man who will usher in a change (for the better) for the USA ? Frankly , I really wish he would be a cayalyst to bring change to the direction that America has diverrted itself from -that of foundation that believe in solid Christain values of rights of every man -Life, Liberty , and Pursuit of happiness . Do we have something tangible in his public record of 4 yrears or more of genuinely working for this ends or do we just have a loud spews of rhetorics that tend to mesmerize masses but that leads to an emptyand pathetic leadership ?

Posted over 4 years ago I was doing great with Obama's election <especially for one who is a staunch republican>, til I found out what the festivities were going to cost: $150,000,000. Not even in office yet and the biggest party in DC history for an inaugaration festival. It sets a bad example to our country. This would have been a great time to set a good example by curtailing the festivities a bit and maybe paying some of the debt to China......just a thought. I'm sure I'll get blasted for this....so what? Stupid spending habits. California is about to go under and there are some students who cant get aide because of this..........this $150,000,000 could have helped alot of nursing students; it could have put heat in homes whose power has been turned off in this bitter cold, it could have stocked alot of food banks. The NY Times bashed GW Bush for his inaugaration costing over $40,000,000...........the Clintons only had a bill over a bit over $30,000,000. What a double standard. I know about $40 million was raised by the campaign............what about the other $110,000,000? We only have one heart, take care of it! Angie

Posted over 4 years ago You know, a lot of Americans believe that the President is responsible for whatever happens in our country. WRONG! Try congress. That's where all the bull takes place. Granted the President has the right to veto a bill, should he think it necessary, but that rarely if ever happens. The moral of this comment is simple, "Don't blame the man in the oval office if life ain't a bowl of cherries. Blame the #$%holes in congress".

| Posted over 4 years ago I agree with joyrifer concerning what the predisent can do and what congress will let happen. However, since most of the congress is controled by the Demorcrates i fill sure that what every Predient Obama wants will happen. Let now have what they have been crying about for eight years and trying to ruin the lives of others because they can. I do hope , but know the he can not do anything about this, that Predisent Obama will try to talk with the powders that be and stop the spending of tax payers money on distorying repicans lives that have just completed their terms in office. Enough is enough! We now need to get on with the tast at hand and that is the 44th President of the United States and stop throwing stone from thier glass house because most of them have things that need to be left alone or they may find the stone at their windows. This what the Demorcats have been fighting for for eight years, total control of everything. Let us see what will happen for the good of this country not travel backward into crap that nolonger makes a different. I'm a card carrying Democrate but for anumber of years have been ashame to say so. I do not know how some of these people are elected in their home state but the time now is for New blood and we need to give this president the time he needs to get things going for this country and not just for the party. We have alot of problems at this time in our country and Congress needs to focus on that not the tearing down of others lives thye do not like. I do not know what President Obama will do and I do not feel that anyone else does either. But it took more than these past eight years to get us were we are... I hope that it will not take that long to get congress's ill will toward others and those with opisite openions from there own to get back to handling the bussiness at hand. I was not a support of, now President, Obama or anyone during this last election, but I would like to see how he plans to improve this country with out the seniors citizens loosing their SS beifits and if he can place a hold on Congress from placeing anymore IOU's on these seniors benifits. We are living longer and most of our seniors citizens depend on this to live. It will be nice to hear his first state of the uion address. Maybe this year the Demorcats will stay quite and listen to what is said and be so disrespectful as in the past. I'm from the generation that belives in this country and what it stands for, in the past and now. I believe that just becuase we do not like what is going on or happening we do not need to be disrespectful to the President. I guess what I'm trying to say is the Congress does control everything. I'm not sure that is the way it should be. b4this country

Posted over 4 years ago I like our new President, honestly. These previous posts hit the nail on the head ......Congress needs fixing. Ok, is it just me, or is the Obama family truly beautiful? Him, his wife and daughters seem just ......sweet and celestial. I dont mean just physically attractive.......just 'serene'.......or something. They sure looked cold today! It looked like Michelle kept peeking to see if the girls wern't popsicles........and I dont blame her! We only have one heart, take care of it! Angie

Posted over 4 years ago He's a mere man, just like all the rest of us....he has no super powers, but I too was astounded at the amount of money spent on the inauguration. How many hungry people would that have fed? How many heating bills would that have paid? How many mortgages would it have covered? Just trying to put things into perspective. I understand everyone wants to celebrate, but when we look at the recession our country is suffering from, and when we hear Obama talk change and needing help from the American people, it seems a bit hypocritical to spend that amount of money on this inauguration. ~ Laugh as much as you breath and love as long as you live ~

| Posted over 4 years ago Ok ladies.....let's take a minute to think about this before we get all upset about the cost of things. Hasn't this been the largest inauguration event for a US president? Haven't there been more people in attendance than ever before? Hasn't the sheer number of people attending along with the safety concerns surrounding Obama meant A LOT more security than before? These things may explain an increase in cost. I don't know what the truth is at this point.....it just happened today and I'm still elated about this historical event. However, I have heard that the Associated Press is responsible for skewing the numbers and that some important key pieces of info have been left out. Here's what I found on what the numbers really mean.......
Now.....in my opinion......all things concerning the White House events etc. are far too expensive and have been that way long before Obama. I've shared my feelings about that with his administration......maybe you should as well. Let's think about this though......he just became the President ohhhh 6 hours ago. I highly doubt that he has had the opportunity to make sweeping changes just yet. ~ Melissa |

Posted over 4 years ago As for the actual topic..... YES!!!!!! I do believe he will help make positive change for America. In my opinion, he has already done that in some ways. People of all walks of life have a renewed faith in our country, and their spirits have been lifted. People are coming together in massive numbers to support our new leader. To me.....this feels a lot better (albeit slightly) than it did yesterday when Bush was the prez. People now have hope for the future.......and hope goes a long way to encourage and motivate people! ~ Melissa

Posted over 4 years ago too much money on the inaguration that can be given to Americans in need is right...or what about the 10-15million dollars a day given to Isreal for "aid." That money should be going towards America's problems...It should be spent on Americas poor, not for the blood of Palestinians. I have hope that Obama will change this great problem, as well as many others. "Dreams come true; without that possibility, nature would not incite us to have them." - John Updike

Posted over 4 years ago All of us Americans have alot of gifts and talents that God has given us. I think we all tend to forget to us our talents in this digital age when everything seems to automatic. Mr. Obama is telling us lets all work together to make this a better and brighter country. We all need to get along and accept each other as we are, but we need to get up and walk the walk to get things done!!

Come on!! You're a Christian and yet support a man who spent his first day in office giving away OUR money to kill more babies? It didn't take us 8 years to get "into this mess", it took about 75 including the stupid decision in 73 to legalize baby killing. The economic mess is thanks to Obama's buddies like Harry Reid and Barney Frank who pushed banks to fund mortgages thru Freddie/Fannie (who, by the way, spent millions in campaign funding donations to, oh,guess who, Barney Frank and Harry Reid, among other democrats) for people who couldn't afford them. Surprise, they can't afford their mortgage, they go belly up by the thousands and so do those same banks who were REQUIRED to make the mortgages. If the banks felt the loans were supportable, they wouldn't need Freddie or Fannie to guarantee them. Sigh. What does a college degree get you these days? A first-row seat to the liberal brainwash agenda. The CHANGE WE NEED is for people to stop assuming the government should fix everything and get off their bottoms and do it themselves. We are a spoiled bunch and most Americans have no clue just how good it really is here. Nurses, we will lose our economic strength if socialist medicine takes over. Be warned. Maybe start looking for another job. |

Posted over 4 years ago When the economy is good , vote for a democrat because they love to spend money. When the economy is bad, vote for a republican because they always cut back on spending. We have a bad economy with a democratic president and democratic congress. This means the people with jobs like nurses right now will be paying alot of taxes to keep every body else and every thing else afloat. I'm an independent and very worried.

Posted over 4 years ago I don't think anything will change too much in a short term. (2-3 years) Previous depression in the United States did not have the problem of huge debt and the war in the middle east. I believe Nursing HR service will be the trend of Nursing job market. There will be less and less hospital hire full-time nurses. The hospitals will directly request man power from Nursing HR service agent. Especially, when you expect a country to establish an universal health care system. It will expect to cut the cost of nurse. They will not cut it from M.D. Check countries that have the universal health care system, those coutries' nurses do not pay as well as in the United States. (such as Japan and Germany)

Posted over 4 years ago Kudos to Obama.....who on his FIRST day in office has already: ~ Spoken to leaders in both Israel and Palestine ~ Given orders to have Gitmo closed within a year ~ Arranged for all non-emergent bills to be posted on the White House website for citizens to view and comment on before they are passed AND the best one of all............. ~ Frozen the salaries of the White House, citing that the government will need to tighten their belts just as everyone else. Things are looking good so far!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BTW.....Obama is not a baby killer. Chain emails are rarely factual documents....LOL! ~ Melissa

Posted over 4 years ago Please......please......please Let's NOT have this turn into a political war on NursingLink aaaaaagggain like we saw preceeding the election. The people have spoken around the country AND, according to the poll above, here on NL as well. Obama was chosen for the job! Now please......let the man do his work......and judge him on that rather than rumors, gossip, and grudges. His performance is how we can evaluate him, but first we must let him perfom. PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ~ Melissa

Posted over 4 years ago No one can put so much faith and hope into man, no matter who he or she is. Man will always let you down. Obama was put into office for a reason, as Chrsitains , we have to support him and our government. We may not agree with everything said or done, but we have to pray for them and make our needs known. God is ultimately in control, and, all things happen for a reason. I do think things are going change, good and bad, for whatever reason. This is going to be a year of tremendous change in general, we have to watch to see why the changes are happening.Never put all your trust in man, and keep your eyes and ears open and pray.God bless.
