Posted over 4 years ago I live in north Alabama and have thought about moving. Out of all 50 states if you wanted to move where would you go and why? If you live in that perfect city or state what keeps you there besides family and friends? Nursing it's how I live my life..... |

| Posted over 4 years ago I live in chicago, I dont think i would ever move. I visited other cities before and none of them compare to Chicago. Besides the friends and family factor....you got the diversity, the weather WHICH I LOVE, you can get all seasons in one day "Dreams come true; without that possibility, nature would not incite us to have them." - John Updike |

| Posted over 4 years ago I have lived in Dallas, Texas for 19 yrs & just recently had to relocate back to my hometown in South Carolina due to my mother having a stroke in May 2007. It has been very hard for me because I had to leave behind all of my friends at 45 yrs of age & a large metropolitan area to come back to a very, very small town with nothing to do. I have been fighting depression and sadness for over a year due to the move & changes in lifestyle I have had to suffer through alone & of course, my family has no clue to my plight because they are just happy I am back but really do not seem to understand or empathize with my situation. Do not get me wrong. I love my family and my mother, but she has chosen to stay in the nursing home where she did her recovery & even though I offered she did not want to move in with me. My mother seems to be the only one to acknowledge or recognize my sadness but until I get my RN degree there is no way I am moving again. Sorry so long-winded. As for the question I have considered moving back to Dallas - although the summers were getting unbearable. Chicago, NYC & Toronto come to mind, as well. I have also considered becoming an expatriate nurse & relocate to Europe or S. America. Johnny George, CNA, NCPT

| Posted over 4 years ago That has to be hard on you. I'm sorry you have had a bad year. Is there a larger city close to you that you could move to that wouldn't be so far away but still have that big city feel? Hang in there. Maybe it will get better as you put your energy into your RN program. Good Luck. Nursing it's how I live my life..... |

| Posted over 4 years ago I lived in Dallas all of my life, I love Texas! Unfortunately we had to move to Virginia (nothing against VA, I am just not into this place) My husband 's new Duty Station will be in Kingsville, TX and we will be living in Corpus Christi, TX. I am just so glad to be going back to Texas. Texas is just full of people with southern tradition...kind, open, and welcoming. Sure there are those who aren't as hospitable, but you get those kind everywhere. My husband I plan to move back to the Ft. Worth area once we are finished with Kingsville. My parents still live in the house I grew up in, in Dallas. I enjoy going home to my old room...with neighbors that knew me from birth. Things change but Texas is one place that I will always want to be! As my Daddy says, you can take the girl out of Texas, but you can't take Texas out of the girl. Good luck with your journey!!! |

| Posted over 4 years ago Miami!! Beautiful weather year round, wonderful place for friends and family to visit. I've lived here for 4+ years and there is always something new to do. The few downfalls are high cost of living but if you get into the suburbs it gets affordable, and nursing pay down here isn't great especially compared to the high cost of living but there are enough schools around so that you could get an advanced nursing degree. |

| Posted over 4 years ago I adore Chicago, we live only 3 hours away and visit often. I have frequently thought of living there. On the other hand, I love Florida, the St, Pete area is so beautiful and the weather is awesome. I know, two completely different climates, but if I could relocate it would be to one of those two places. ~ Laugh as much as you breath and love as long as you live ~ |

| Posted over 4 years ago Chicago is a fantastic city. Just way too cold and very expensive. If I were a billioaire, I would pick Chicago and/or New York. |

| Posted over 4 years ago I have always lived in Alabama. And I guess I'm a small town girl. The big city is not for me. I've really thought of Florida because of the weather but unsure because of the cost of living. I just don't know. Nursing it's how I live my life..... |

| Posted over 4 years ago This isn't within the US, but I would love to live (or at least have an extended stay....) in England...I have been there many times to visit my mum's family. My father's family has a castle in Scotland, I would love to stay there for a time. |

| Posted over 4 years ago Sorry--but I love the desert--AZ is great for me. We are within 1 1/2-2 hours from Vegas and only about 3 hours from snow (in the winter) in Flagstaff. Have the best of both worlds. |

| Posted over 4 years ago I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and I'm still here. I plan to go to nursing school here too, but will probably move soon after. I'm glad I grew up here because it's prepared me for anything, but at the same time the cost of living now is just ridiculous. I would probably move some place warmer and/or more easy going. I think just visiting NYC from time to time would be enough for me! I'd love to experience life at a slower pace without so much noise, lol.

| Posted over 4 years ago I do love the midwest for many reasons. All the different seasons (yes, all in one day sometimes :)). I do ,however, want to move somewhere, but I am not sure where at this time.I do know, that Santa Fe New mexico, is def NOT that place. I took a traveling position there a few years back, intending to move there. It was def not for my family and I absolutley hated that it was do darn dry.Go figure, a desert state so dry... I was raised right on Lake Michigan and have to be near water. |

| Posted over 4 years ago I think a person can find beauty in any part of the country if they chose to. Make the most of it and live life to the fullest. Find which place brings comfort and contentment to your heart. Sorry I can't be more specific, but I think a person needs to travel the country to find what feels like "home" to them. | Posted over 4 years ago 10 plus years NJ, won't go back except to visit, taxes way too high, 10 plus years here and there in Florida, too humid, pay lousy, lots to do though 1 year southern california, it was OK, housing prices high, liked the weather though 2 long winters in Great Lakes, Illinois, too cold, too cold it was -60 F with the wind chill one of the winters there, 10 plus years in rural NC, it was OK, weather pretty good, but life is too slow, and too churchy for me 3 years in Hawaii, perfect weather, lots to do, lots to explore, if I could afford it, I would go back in a second, end of year 1 in Pennsylvania, 4 seasons, hardworking people, No real complaints as of yet, except LOL, the highways always under construction. |

| Posted about 4 years ago I've also thought of Alaska. But it's sooo cold. I guess living in Alabama and having mild winters it would be a shock to my system. And to respond to cdnurse - Yes UAB is a great school and after I get my MSN I have thought about going there to teach as well. Nursing it's how I live my life..... |

| Posted about 4 years ago CD, would love to have you back in Ga.............UAB would be fabulous too. Great school. I lived in England for 4 yrs from 83 to 87, it was great......would have loved to go to Scottland more........but when we were driving in Edinborough, they named every fricken street 'Prince or Princess" sumpin or another, stayed lost alot. My favorite place over there was this little Welsh village, Llandudnow or something like that. Stayed in b& b that was a castle that King Henry 8 pillaged or something, was cool. The place I would love to move to would be in Blue Ridge, or around Knoxville TN. Out in the country, away from lots of people. We only have one heart, take care of it! Angie |

| Posted about 4 years ago I have lived all over the country. Throw a dart at the map of the United States and you could find good reasons to live there. We have it pretty good here. I could think of a hundred places that I would be happy, right here in the U.S.A. Good pay, good quality of life, familiar food and faces .... I say all that t say this: I would give it all up in a heartbeat to go live in the Philippines, where the love of my life resides. Home is where the heart is, and mine is 7500 miles away.

| Posted almost 5 years ago I would go to Nashville. I lived down there temporarily and coming from upstate NY loved the fact it didn't know about six months out of the year. People were friendly and there was a lot to do in the city. |

| Posted almost 4 years ago I'm from NJ originally but don't want to go back there because of the winters and the high cost of living. Lived in Boston for a short time many years ago and loved it but it's too cold and too high-priced. Lived in Houston, Texas for a couple of years, too hot, humid , flat and buggy. then we moved to Washington State--Vancouver, WA, right across the Columbia River from Portland, Oregon. the Pacific Northwest is the most beautiful area in the country in my estimation. Mountains, spectacular coastine. affordable living, really friendly people. The only thing is that the weather totally sucks. too much rain and gray days. we left Vancouver about 10 years ago ( I still can't believe we actually did that) and moved to Phoenix, AZ. Phoenix is very different in so many ways, but as we were just talking about the other day, other than the summer heat (June, July and August is the worst) there is no adverse weather to deal with. No hurricanes, no blizzards and ice storms, no flooding (except sometimes in the north country near rivers), no tornadoes or earthquakes. The 6 months of winter are wonderful. Phoenix, though, is a rather transient place and that can sometimes hurt your sense of "community". After 10 years, I have finally stopped crying about leaving Washington State, weather and all. Could I go back? Probably. I would just have to schedule more mini-vacations to someplace sunny and install those seasonal affective disorder lights in my home. Tip: Don't buy a home there under Douglas fir trees. |

| Posted almost 4 years ago I would love to,live anywhere that isn't where I live now...(Western Kentucky) Nothing against the Bluegrass State as a whole, I've just lived here my whole life and felt like I wasn't made for a place this small..I enjoy all of the things my town doesn't have to offer.. The arts, the entertainment, the education. That's why i want to be a traveling nurse, that way I can find the right city for me. |
(most people dont like it because of how cold it gets in the winter, but Chicago wouldnt be the same). The city is absolutly gorgeous at night! Theres tons to do for fun, which goes along with the diversity factor....theres soo much great things about Chicago....but its not for everyone...hope I helped.
