| Posted over 4 years ago the blood draw is fairly simple. If anybody is match as far as blood type and in terms of any antibodies in the blood, then the next step is a bone marrow aspiration. I have donated bone marrow, and it was a little uncomfortable but it went smoothly. I had headphones on with Vivaldi playing loud as hell, lol. Hope your Aunt is able to find a match. It is a second lease on life, if she can get the transplant and have it take. For her, it is a long process and not easy to go through. God bless and take care! peace Walt |

| Posted over 4 years ago It should be pretty straightforward. First they will be given blood tests, IF they are suitable donors and I hope they are, then they will undergo what is called a bone marrow aspiration where a tiny amount of bone marow is taken from them. They will likely be asked to lie prone (on their stomach) or to one side. The skin is cleansed with an antiseptic, and a local anesthetic is injected to make the skin numb. Then, a tiny thin thin needle is inserted into the bone and advanced inwards with a slow rotating movement until the marrow is found. A small amount of liquid marrow is withdrawn. The area will be cleaned and pressure applied (just as with a blood draw) and they might have to rest for 10-15 minutes. Good luck to them!

| Posted over 4 years ago If you donate plasma to the American Red Cross, they will do a free crossmatch to anyone in the system. I had a family member with A.L.L., and we were told to do that...no cost then |
