Posted over 4 years ago hi guys, im new to this board and i just took the nclex-pn yesturday and my pc shut off at 86 questions i know at this point it is redundant to ask assume or interperet what this means because we have all seen it before, however i just cant help my self.. the nclex pn that i took was ridiculous i studied my bottom off, i scored 1100 something on the hesi, which i was told that the hesi was harder than the nclex but the nclex in my opinion was very broad, my test had alot of meds that i had no idea what they were alot of alzheimers 1 pediatric math and 1 select all that apply, 1 skilled nursing..and alot of "which patient would the nurse see first and delegation.... nothing like i expected, hesi to me was easier even though i know it was harder if that makes any since...i am strressed out because i dont feel that there was anything else for me left to study or if i fail i dont even know what to study. this test was completly unpredictable. since im a jersey girl in few hours ill have my results. my question is if your failing at 85 or so...why dont they let you go on to 205 or what ever you have to, to pass...can anyone enlighten me? also since im very analytical if 15 questions dont count then assuming they score you on 70 questions out of those questions how many wrong is failing 35 or so would be 50/50.....sorry guys this is the stress talking. |

| Posted over 4 years ago Sorry I dont know the answer to your question. But relax, I know it is nerve racking to you but you got it in the bag. If you know you did your best...then know that you have it in the bag. Its always better to do your best rather than not even try. I think you will do just fine! |

| Posted over 4 years ago The way the test works is that it will ask you a question with a couple of right answers but one best answer and depending on how you answer it, the computer will pull up another question either the same skill level, lower, or higher to see where your knowledge base is. When it statistically feels you have answered enough questions sufficiently (whether enough to say yes she grasps nursing or no way they just don't get it) then it shuts off. You have to be patient (easier said than done I know) and wait for the results. Best of luck to you. I will keep you in my prayers! |

| Posted over 4 years ago I graduated from LPN nursing school in December. I'm scheduled to take state boards next week, and I"m a nervous wreck also. Of course, I've studied and was recently told by another nurse(an RN) to stop studying at this point. That, if I didn't know the information by now, I won't. I've studied Saunders Nclex and haven't done too bad, however, can't help feeling nervous and doubtful..help!!! |

| Posted over 4 years ago Have you studied using NCLEX-PN Cd's that come with the Saunder or Mosby. You need to stop thinking as a student, think as a nurse, when you go to take your nursing boards. lucky30. Good luck again, when you take your PN boards. I am a proud mother of three beautyful daughter. I currently live in Los Angeles California. I've worked as a heathecare provider for almost 10 years. I am curently in school to pursue my MSN in nursing, and wants to work as a pediactric nurse, in public health. |

i will everything i can, maybe i just need to relax, think like a nurse already, like you said, and just take my time, thanks for the advice, but should i just study saunders only, i have been doing 100 questions a night a falling right at 62%, i'm trying to get at least 85%, i'm planning to take boards no later than April 15, i wasn't ready to take it March 15, after taking the exam on saunders i write down every question i got wrong with the rationales, review it and start another exam the next day, i just started doing this toward the second week of March, am i doing too much, or continue with the practice questions daily using saundes only |

Study Mosby too. I studied both, and come to find out, that there was the exact question on the actual NCLEX exam, I was shocked. You need to score at least 90 to 100, that was my percentage in every category, compare rationales, and write out all you lab values, and remember them by hard. Good luck. | Posted about 4 years ago Hey guys! I took my PN test on April 3 and right now, I'm a nervous reck. I've been studying out of so many books for the passed years such as Saunders, Liptoncott, Mosby, and many others. I stuck with Saunders because I found it to be really helpful. I took the test and the computer shut off at 86. Right then and there, I felt like crying because the first thoughts that went through my mind was "I failed" and "why didn't they give me another chance." I was so depressed sitting there at the computer screen, that I really didn't even read what the survey questions afterwards was telling me; I just wanted to get out of there before I shedded tears. For some reason, I surprisingly remembered the question I stopped at hours later. I was sitting there saying to myself "Oh no, not another hard question." I wasn't sure about the answer I chose, but I said to myself "don't worry, I have another chance to answer the question right" and *poof*, the computer shuts off.

| Posted about 4 years ago Hey everyone I really need someone to talk to thats been in the posistion I am. I just took my test last wednesday for the second time and unfortunatly got bad results. The first time I took it, it gave me the full 205 questions, so the second time I took it, when it went pass 85 I just knew it was going to give me 205 again and sure enough I was right. I just cried all the way home after my test cause I was postitive I failed it. I really did study but sometimes I just wonder if nursing is for me. I dont want to give up, but I just want to be successful at something. By no means am I trying to throw a pitty party but if anyone out there did what I did they would understand. Please help. I have one more try before Im done for good. |

I just know i failed i didn;t have an idea what the answers to the questions were. Most of that stuff i never seen or heard of in my life. I studied from so many different books scoring good on the practice exams. I don't know what happened i feel as if i cant go through this again if i failed.....which im about 99% sure i failed i have to wait one more day before i can find out. I've been tryin to think positive, but i can't |

| Posted about 4 years ago Hey there thebeachone77, I'm in somewhat of the same position as you, except i'm doing HESI and your doing the NCLEX. I suggest that you get the NCLEX 4000 CD-rom and go through those questions, as well as go through MOSBY nclex REVIEW. Stay calm, eat a good dinner and breakfast and pray hard, and leave the rest in God's hand. Believe that you'll pass it the next time... understand the basic principal behind the question. Good luck... thebeachone77 says ...

| Posted about 4 years ago When I took my NCLEX Pn exam, the computer cut off at 86 questions and like others I was stunned and scared to death. I passed. I mostly just studied Saunders NCLEX prep book, and reviewed nursing logic and maslow. There is no way any one can know all those meds, just know your med classifications and common side effects for different classes. None of the med questions I had were about meds I was familiar with, but I recognized their drug class by their endings and could answer by using above reasoning. Good luck to all. |

I have also studied saunders, mosby, lippencott I havent done to well been scoring like 71 out of 100. I dont know what to do. Did anyone take an Nclex predictor test in school? They made us take it and they said the predictor has been accurate so far in who passes and who fails. I dont know. Mine said i had a 98% chance of passing the nclex the first time, but I am not to convinced after studying the cd's i have. |

| Posted about 4 years ago Have you gone on to google.com and typed in 3500 NCLEX? Take the first site that comes up and it will give you some great material to test on. It also gives you a pretest to see what your weaknesses are. I have one more semester until I am in your shoes. Relax. I already use Mosby's Review Cards and so may people tell me that they didn't pass until they started doing them because it gives you such a diverse range of questions and puts in a lot of meds. GOOD LUCK and don't get yourself so stressed that you can't test. It it said you had a 98% chance of passing then have faith in yourself. | Posted about 4 years ago Hey! Well I went and took the Nclex on May 19th 2009...I came out and called and told everyone I had failed! It was HORRIBLE! I didnt feel like I had answered any of the questions right. I had ALOT of SATA questions. I had alot of questions about Meds none of them I had ever heard of. I had alot of which client would you see first and alot of infection control. It was mostly the SATA questions that i had. It was not at all what i had expected. I felt like a zombie for the next two days waiting on my results to come in on pearson vue website. So when they came in this morning i didnt want to see it cause I knew i had FAILED big time! My computer shut off at 85 questions. But anyway I PASSED! I am so relieved that it is all over with! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE THAT IS GETTING READY FOR THEIR NCLEX! |
