Posted over 5 years ago i tried selling tee-shirts,baked goodies, helped with the family eatery. i had a great time going to bazaars and showing people our unique line of products that are handmade. Some department stores and foreigner(we were in my country), found our products interesting and purchased bulks of bags, shirts, shorts. that was great until my brother in law got sick and we have no choice but to close the business. |

| Posted over 5 years ago I made silk floral arrangements-lots and lots of them-went to craft shows -rented a little booth in a craft store. I loved it! My daughter moved back in and I had no more room to do it. Maybe I'll start doing it again. |

| Posted over 5 years ago I'm no longer an active RN. After a sudden and acute hearing loss I could no longer keep my patients safe in the OR, so I resigned. I now work from home as an independent recruiter, specializing in nurses, of course!! |

| Posted over 4 years ago I have begun a dental/medical discount plan marketing business. What I love about it is the market for it is HUGE. The only problem is my personal schedule (as an in-home caregiver) and limited extra time make it hard to build. In addition, I am without a vehicle...making many tasks difficult to complete. I don't exactly live in the middle of the city, so getting around is a real pain. Jeannie |

| Posted about 4 years ago I have done many things. I currently am studying aromatherapy, and teach a balanced 4 quadrant living model. I teach wellness classes and I am trying to use my nursing in a positive manner, working on stress management, and time management. I love what I am doing. I answered an ad in the Holistic Nursing Magazine, (www.newrn.com) . I loved the concepts, and have gotten involved. I have been a nurse for 19 years now, and really needed a break from "sickness" nursing. please email me at msn.com">herbalnurse919@msn.com for any additional information. Thanks, Joyce Harrell Joyce Harrell, RN, OCN

| Posted about 4 years ago Good news! I got a vehicle....yeah! I wanted to ask if the 4 quadrant living model was from Stephen Covey? I love that matrix and have worked with it in the past. What you are doing sounds very interesting. I'd love to hear more about what you've learned about aromatherapy and stress. Jeannie |

| Posted about 4 years ago No, the 4 quadrant model was actually written by a nurse named Patty Abraham. She is absolutely become my mentor. She has created a 2 year business model using this 4 quadrant model of Work, Live, Learn, and Give. I have only been associated with her since January, but she has probably become one of my closest friends since then. I was really needing to find someone like her. I do have wellness products that I promote, and it is a business combined with Patty's teaching model. I am actually working with a team of nurses and I also have a coach. I really feel like I am using my nursing in a prevention way now. I would love to share more with you. I don't want to get real commercial on this forum. I would be glad to talk to you and give you some websites to look at and I can tell you more about what I do. The aromatherapy and stress reduction is the other part of what I do. I have studied aromatherapy for a few years now. Using pure essential oils really have great benefit. I spoke at East Carolina University a few weeks ago on Aromatherapy. And I spoke to the North Carolina Nurses Association on Integrative Care and Implications for Nursing Practice in February. The whole subject of Natural Health totally intrigues me. I am glad you got a vehicle. I do alot of my business online, and don't even need a vehicle most days. The phone, and computer. But I am probably going to schedule some aromatherapy classes in the near future, and well as some Skin Care Classes. I have a line of preservative free natural Skin Care Products. Any way, I will send you a message with my phone number. I would love to talk. I will be at a Holistic Health Practitioner luncheon on Thursday until later in the afternoon. I have a toll free number, and if you want to talk, leave a message and I will call you back. That way it won't cost you anything. Joyce Joyce Harrell, RN, OCN

| Posted over 3 years ago This was a group I actually went to a few months ago, and it actually changed my life. It got me searching and enabled me to become focused on my dreams, and I am now teaching low glycemic classes in conjunction with the business I was connected to, and my business is really taking off. Ijust came back from a convention and I am so excited to be using my nursing skills in a prevention way. Joyce Harrell, RN, OCN

| Posted over 3 years ago My sister who is a DON in a LTCF invented the Personal Belongings Case (PBC) that is a medical grade "plastic" container to protect hearing aids, glasses, dentures and other pt. belongings from being lost or broken. We started to market these pretty much from out home about 7 years ago. The company (Popish Inc.) continues to grow. We have two product lines now and have sold to several hundred hospitals and LTCFs in almost all 50 states. You can find out more about this product at www.popishinc.com. We're always looking for sales people in various parts of the country. It's commission only right now but all you need is a couple good contracts with a couple of hospitals to get a pretty good check for minimal work. There is still time to get in on the "ground floor" with this company. If you think you are interested let me know or contact us through the web-site. We think that our product will one day essentially be a standard of care in facilities. |

| Posted about 3 years ago I LOVE Think and Grow Rich. It tops up there as one of my favorites. I use it in my nurse leadership development program. I am working with a physician right now to produce a program to teach nurses how to train themselves to be Wellness Coaches. You have to first SEE yourself in a different place. I am doing a "dream board" right now. And being Rich doesn't just mean financial resources, as we all know. But, when you "Think and Grow Rich", it opens up a whole new mindset for all areas of life. I love having my own business! :) Joyce Harrell, RN, OCN

| Posted almost 3 years ago I am currently considering taking one of the aromatherapy courses endorsed by the AHNA. Is there another one that is better? |

| Posted over 2 years ago I think taking a course endoresed by the AHNA is the best route to take. I had actually signed up and paid to take a class at the Institute of Integrative Aromatherapy, and it has credits for nurses, as well as many others. I like this gal that heads it up. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to complete due to some family emergencies, but I also have this on my list to complete at some point. http://www.aroma-rn.com/ is the link. Joyce Harrell, RN, OCN
