Posted over 4 years ago I am just wondering why more nurses don't treat mentally ill patients with more respect. Bipolars especially that I have seen in our ER are treated like they are crazy. It is just like any other illenss, but harder to treat. Diabetics can take insulin, Bood pressure meds are available for those with high BP, a broken leg can be set. I think it is soooooo sad. What can we do? I have actually heard some of the docs in my ER call the , "Crazy". "Just get them out of here as soon as possible." So very sad. Aren't we, as nurses suppose to help everyone that has an illness???? A good man loves other. A better man loves God. A great man loves God and lives well among others! I miss you daddy!
