Angie, I was also highly criticized for being offended by the "perfect" baby comment. But I agree with you...sad, sad, sad.

My statement came because those are the facts.  I adopted a mixed race child.  When you talk to social workers in the field, this is one of their big complaints.  People want perfect babies and, for a large number of people, they want white babies and, often, they want blonde hair and blue eyes.  I don't understand the logic of those people, but those are situations in which social workers find themselves.  Yes, adopting is a huge problem and involves lots of paperwork.  But, on the flip side, it can be a good way to weed out the flakes.  We watched as families dropped out of the adoption process because of the paperwork or limitations... but, we stuck it out because our number one priority was to give a special needs child a loving home.  We did that... and, he is now in college against all odds.  Do I sound bitter in some of my posts?  Maybe.  Its more out of frustration because as we sit, children are waiting for loving, stable homes... and, many of them will never be adopted.

My question is if you are single, have no job, no income and living of government assistance already, why would you want to have any children? You know it is going to be expensive.......make a choice.....DO NOT HAVE CHILDREN.  Then you do not have to make an even harder choice later on.

Finally, someone with logic!!!!  Makes so much sense to me, I don't know why more people don't get it.

Perhaps for you and many other more shallow individuals, light skin, light hair, and light eyes are what is perfect.  However, my dark haired, dark eyed, dark skinned babies are just as perfect in my eyes and in many others.

No one had commented on this topic for a month until you did today, os I would say most of us had moved on, and yes it most certainly is an indefinite topic.
