Posted about 4 years ago I have been a LVN for 40 yrs. I would like to futher my education to RN. But I dont think I can get all of the basic in. Is there a school that would take an old nurse that has worked in every department ,in hospital and nursing homes. And now works in Quality in a hospital thank you carol |

| Posted about 4 years ago Why not? I went to RN school with an LVN who was 65 when she started school. She did well, and went to work for one year after she graduated at 67. She said she just wanted to see if she could do it, and wanted to finish her career as an RN. She did. I am an RN and am now in school for my BSN. I hope to then get an MSN with a concentration in drug and alcohol counseling (I can then sit down!) I am now 66. You are never too old if you want to do it. Nursing schools in the last 20+ years are a piece of cake compared to what they were like - only a couple of hours twice weekly in the hospital. You can do it. It keeps me from getting senile and also keeps me out of the pool halls. I'm sure you can find a community college near you that will take you. Good Luck!!!!!! |
