you know, you watch all of these doctor shows and there's always some sort of relationship thing going on somewhere. what are your viewpoints on having a relationship where you work? it is worth it?

It was in my case. I was a tech in the ER and in my first semester of nursing school when I met my future wife in the soiled utility room. She was a Flight Nurse helping out in the ER. We flirted a bit, went out and the rest is history. Now we both work in the ER and have a nice "little" family. I've had a few others, but nothing really to speak of.

wow, that's great. i've always been told that it really hurts you to get into a relationship with someone at work, and that it never works out. i guess you break the mold on this one, huh? :) i wish ya'll the best of luck for the future.

I know lots of people who met their spouses/significant others at work - this includes nurses, doctors, and pharmacists. People develop such a strong sense of camaraderie out of taking care of patients so naturally some relationships are going to bloom out of that.

It's not like you see on TV, though. For the most part, doctors and nurses just aren't that promiscuous ( ;

Well Beth it may be true overall but I was a tech in one particular ER and the doctors and nurses were very promiscuous. In fact, many nurses had a spouse (whether nurse or doctor) that worked at the same hospital. Relationships can be good just don't break up marriages as I have seen.

Well maybe it's just you crazy ER nurses and Docs who are gettin' busy.

I work with pulmonologists and there's not much excitement going on there. Biggest gossip around my parts is who just got published in the latest issue of "Chest" (The official publication of the American College of Chest Physicians.)

I wonder what OR nurses have to say about this. Any action going down in the surgical suites?

Not really sure of the environment that the Nurse works in but considering it's a workplace, it's important that relationships out there in the real world don't get too serious as to interfare with work.

>Okay, *holding a scalpel in his right hand* I will now to open up his right metacarpal and extract the bacteria out

>John, I love you,

*John carefully starts to zoom into the area to be cut and places the scalpel on the wrist area, thinks to himself "What, after all these years that I've had been dying to get her attention, and now she becomes avaliable for me?!*

#John misses the area for the cut and goes too deep#

Blood starts spitting out everywhere from the patient's wrist and patient goes into tachycardia. Chaos is everywhere.

Off-topic: Linkin Park rocks! Faint and Lying from you and Leave out all the rest are my favs.

I met my husband at work. He would come to my unit and talk to me during his breaks. He helped me with school work, helped me move and one thing led to another. We started dating and never let it out at work, we didn't want people to get any ideas. I screwed it up by sending him some balloons at work on valentines, my name was never to be mentioned and the delivery guy let the cat out of the bag. We've been together for 12 years, and still going strong he is a great guy. We don't work at the same place, we've moved up and on.

Please don't pay any attention to my misspelled words or typos. Sorry I'll try harder next time.
