Interviewing a new doctor

Posted about 4 years ago I would like some input on what kinds of things you would like to know about a doctor before you chose to see them as your personal doc. What or how would you be able to tell if this doc was right for you? In a perfect world and you got a chance to interview a new doc before you have your first visit, what would you ask? What would you want to know? Thanks for your help... A busy RN is here |

| Posted about 4 years ago I would ask: 1) How accessible is he/she after hours for an emergency. Would I be at the mercy of the ED staff Doc? 2) Any law suits or complaints? (I do routinely look these up) 3) Is he/she board certified? 4) Does their office offer a 24 hour nurse line? 5) What is the normal length of a regular office visit? Would he/she be willing to sit down with me if I have numerous questions or concerns? |

| Posted about 4 years ago Before you even go to the doctor you are scoping out, go online to clerk of courts where you live, type in his/ her last name and see if they've had medical malpractice suits against them, if they have had, might want to find a new one. That's something to think of first before asking the normal questions. |

| Posted about 4 years ago Most of the info listed so far can be gathered by research on the net, I am interested in what else maybe non tangible that you would like to find out about the doc before making your dec. A busy RN is here |
