Hello, my name is Marissa and I was just accepted to the Sandford-Brown Institute in Landover, MD. I start my first class tomorrow and I am so excited. My motivation is my grandmother, she started out as a CMA is now on her way to becoming a RN. She has raised me and my family on her foundation of employment in the medical field and now I am looking to start from the beginning just as she did and provide for her as she has provided for me.

Hello Marissa. I have been a CMA for four years, it is cool. It is a good way to start on the nursing path. My motivation is similar to yours. My mother has been in the medical field since I was about 5 years old or less. She started out as a CNA and two years ago she finished RN school. When my mom started out as a new grad RN, she showed me her first check, they started her out with $28.00 an hour, I was like " oh I am encouraged to continue pursueing advancement in the field!). She just got hired for a new job the other day and they started her with $32.00 an hour plus a $2500.00 sign-on bonus. Healthcare is my passion, always has been. The monetary benefits to it are just icing on the cake. I started out as a Caregiver, then a Nurse Assistant, then became a Certified Medical Assistant. I start LVN school in September of this year. After that I will do the LVN to RN step-up program. Keep going Marissa if that is your desire.
