when I worked at a memory care center) ( dementia / Alzheimer’s unit )I had a lot of residents who came in from there own homes and they were very neglected one lady hadn't showered or washed for 3months I was the one to shower her and she was wheelchair bound and had a huge decube on her butt, and another on the bottom of her foot both stage four I weighed her and she was very under weight I was so sad for her and knew the she had a long road ahead of her and regardless of any thing else she would be taken care of and cared for. I reported every thing to my Charge nurse and he called state, and ordered immediate treatment for wound care, and got her on a program to help her gain weight, she started out on hospice and ended up after two years was partially ambulatory, off hospice and gained 30 lbs and was a whole new person. she was still receiving treatment for her pressure sore on her butt but the heal sore had mostly gone a way and was forming new skin .. Neglect, abuse and plain ignorance is the most frustrating thing to me, not to mention a nurse or aid with bad bed side manners.

What is most frustrating to me in this field:

1) Patients who come to the hospital to score drugs

2) Patients with minor complaints who take the majority of my time away from those who are actually ill, and could really use my help, only I'm stuck in the room with the patient who doesn't really have anything wrong with him or her.

3) Lack of respect and teamwork among nurses.  If we don't respect each other, how can we expect anyone else to treat us as a group with respect?

4) Families of patients who have no idea how the medical field works, but still make outlandish demands, such as demanding to know the results of a test after repeatedly being told that the patient is still at said test, so there's no way that I could give you the results now, even if I was allowed to by law!

May I make a suggestion for answering this thread or any thread? Not to use any true titles of facilities which one may be employed or cowoker's names and your true names.

This will prevent any misunderstanding by any employers and employees, employees and employees, and breeching the HIPPA Laws.

Many employers, nursing organizations, employees, clients, and state organizations are using the internet for additional resource to gather positive or negative information about you.

Please protect yourself, CYA and use fictional titles and names to describe your issues.
