Posted almost 4 years ago I was once and LPN and its is the same disrespect why I DECIDED TO UPGRADE TO SHOW THE DOCTORS AND NURSES that you can achieve whatever you set out to do . MY MOTTO IS ANYTHING YOU CHOOSE TO DO BE THE BEST AT IS, AND I CAN SAY I TURN OUT TO BE A VERY GOOD NURSE. BEING AND LPN HELP ME TO BE MORE SKILL THAN EVEN SOME OF THE RN. MY ADVISE, UPGRADE TO RN IF YOU WANT TO, THERE ARE MORE OPPORTUNITIES IN IT THAN JUST BEEN AN LPN BUT IF YOU WANT TO REMAIN AND LPN CONTINUE TO BE THE BEST ONE YOU CAN BE. BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN UPGRADE IN KNOWLEDGE BY READING ALOT, SUBCRIBE TO NURSING MAGAZINES AND FOLLOW NEW TRENDS AND TECHNIQUE ON THE INTERNET, WHEN THEY ARE HAVING DISCUSSIONS SHOW OFF YOUR KNOWLEDGE.

Posted almost 4 years ago As an LPN in the Army I was in charge of running they ICU w/ the RN. I've worked in various positions that many RN's wouldn't dare. My favorite is Pediatric Home Care. I found many nurses that just didn't get it. The most stressful job I had was being a Unit Manager on a sub-acute rehab floor. I learned so much on the job. It was stressful but I did it. Now I work at a VA where LPN's are treated like dirt. My nurse manager when she refers to nurses does not include all the great competent LPNs that she is blessed with. I continue to work at the VA because in a few years I will get a pension. But now I realize that if I want to be happy I need to be an RN so I am working on that now. I will always cherish all the skills that I have as an LPN but for me to feel successful here and fullfilled in what I do I must be an RN.

Posted almost 4 years ago I am an LPN working in home health. When I started with this company I was a STNA and actually I was treated better as an aide than as an LPN. The office staff always refers to us as LPN’s and the RN’s as “the nurses”. One day when an office member did that, I spoke up and said Licensed Practical NURSE. We are nurses too. They apologized but it has not changed. I understand that there are differences between an LPN and RN but that does not change the fact that LPN’s deserve to be treated with respect and are competent members of the health care team.
