Posted about 4 years ago I am an LPN trying to finish my RN. Since i went to a vocational school for my LPN license, i have to take all of my pre-reqs over again. I am taking an alegbra II class online right now and am about to take it again in the upcoming spring quarter. I have not done so well and am having a hard time keeping up. I hate math and will be soooo glad to get back to the sciences! Any advice? Learning something you dont understand by power point is aweful! |

| Posted about 4 years ago You know I am in the same boat! I am taking a refresher math course and it was televised until the college had a fire. The fire caused a bunch of damage and it put the courses that were being televised are no longer available. I have a very hard time with math, because I don't like it either and it really is hard to understand and try to teach yourself. My school only offered a few choices of what to do in order to continue the course. I had the option of going on campus and that is not working for me at the moment due to the fact that I have no babysitter. The other choice was through the internet. 2 options are available, a website and through youtube. If you let me know what you need help with maybe I can give you the info for the stuff that I am learning. |

| Posted about 4 years ago The math for the nursing program is so out there... I just wondered to myself if I'd EVER need to use it while nursing and so far... I find that I won't... anyhow... even if you take online classes you can still go to the campus and participate in the math labs. When you don't understand something well it's particularly hard to try and teach it to yourself (basically what you are doing in online courses) Contact the professor often ask for help ask if the professor can meet with you... you pay for these classes which pays for their salary they work for you it's their job to make sure you understand the material being presented. If you aren't local to the campus you're taking classes online for explore taking them at an CC or whatever is local. Just make sure the credits will transfer! It's a tough road but you'll get through it keep your head up and keep pressing foward... it's always worth it in the end! |

| Posted about 4 years ago You know, I have a hard time teaching myself, but I had some teachers that were horrible. I taught myself Chemistry and the math that goes with it. Also the algebra classes I took one in the math lab. For Math and Chemistry I used youtube quite a bit. Sometimes they made it much easier to understand than my teachers. Just be careful because students put stuff on there that aren't legit. You can tell the ones that are actually from a college or teacher. So if you are having to teach yourself this is the next best thing. Also utilize the tutors at the school. I used them also and it really does help! |
