Games and why they aren't separate

Over and over again, during the past two years, many of us have requested games be separated from the main forum so those who choose to play can and those of us who would rather not aren't subjected to games be in the most recent discussions.  Games have absolutely overwhelmed this forum, to the point I really dislike logging in to try and  find a topic which interests me and pertains to nursing. Almost every day there is a new game added.  Is this NOT a NURSING forum?

Why has something not been done?

Good idea - i like the games when i want to play them, but other times I'm just looking for discussions. I think they should be in a separate category you can click on....

I have had a problem or two on NursingLink, and have emailed the site - I never get any answer! The only responsive people are our moderators, and they have very little control over technical things like this.

Unless a moderator knows how to contact he Powers That Be, I think we are screwed....

Over and over and over we have asked and then see snide remarks that we are bitchy are upity because we feel the games are bogging down the site. Play you stupid games, we do not care. Just don't bog the site down to the point that nursing topics cannot be found or they get lost.

Have to agree.  I've had a mild interest in one of the bazillion name games that are on here, but that's about it.  I say knock yourself out if you're here for the games, but separation would be nice.  I am a little tired of seeing all of the new "Name that..." games every other day.  I have a few ideas of my own..."Name that BM", "Name that cuss word", "Name that Kama Sutra position", "Name that fart"...these I could get into.

I kind of like the name the kama sutra position.  Tweaks my imagination.

Another thing bothering me is why are serious topics being placed in game zone?

I just logged on and there were only 6 out of 24 topics on the first two pages of the forum related to nursing or real life.  I noticed another new game added.  I'm just hoping if I keep this topic alive, someone who can do something might actually take notice and fix this problem.

so if you guys have been asking over and over for changes, why hasn't anyone on the "staff" complied?

topics and games should be separate.....

what I'm tired of are people asking me to tag them or give them references or go on a date! my friend was given a "marriage proposal".

what the hell

I agree, Deb, and good idea. Maybe the staff could address with the person who is starting all the games....you can see who the few are who do it the most?

diane, I'm not here to point fingers or end the games.  I just want them separated from the main forum, so those of us who are not interested in them are not subjected to them.

I play the games...I don't create them. I have formed groups that are meaningful to me. For example: a graduation group for this year, a DVT and PE group. This has purpose.

The staff knows who creates each game. I'm sure their name is listed.

Hope you guys get the results you have been asking for. Its a shame no one listens.

I think maybe we should make a new game out of it. I have griped and griped about this right to the staff as well as on here.

Maybe, just maybe if we keep at it, someone will listen and do something.  I know it can be done and without much difficulty according to my nephew who is a computer genius.

Once again, on the first two pages of the forum, games have won by a considerable margin.  Out of 24 topics, 20 of those were games.  Why can't this change?????????????????????????????????????

Dates and marriage proposals???? Am so glad that I haven't gotten any of those!!!

I do agree with eveyone that the games should be separate from the regular forums. Whenever I log on, the home page is bogged down with the games in the recent discussions section. It does become a little bothersome after a while. I would love to see more discussions that are medically relevant.

thanks sewnew, I'm trying to keep this topic at the top, in hopes nursinglink might actually take notice and do something about this.

You're very welcome!!! I hope they answer this request soon. Perhaps it would be wise to start a new thread about this in the NL feedback section as well. I got a pretty fast response when I started a thread there a couple of weeks ago.

sewnew, several of us have written to NL general manager and others, who rarely if ever answers, and if an answer is sent, it's full of platitudes, vague statements and nothing has been done.  This I have to say again has been going on for at least a year and a half.  We've been patient I think.  Seems to me, someone is either dropping the ball, or NL could absolutely care less what the active members on this site want.
