Have you ever struggled with putting on the TED hose on a patient?  I did for >30 yrs. of my nursing career, until I learned this tip from a fellow nurse.

THIS ONLY WORKS ON THE HOSE THAT HAVE THE BOTTOM AREA OPEN JUST UNDER THE TOES!!!

First step:  Take the plastic bag that the hose come in and put it over the patient's toes.

Second step:  Bunch the hose up like you do when putting on your panty hose.  (I am sure everyone already does that step.)  It makes the hose slide on easier, then you continue to pull the hose up the leg.

Last step:  Tug on the bottom of the hose to pull it up onto the foot, exposing the toes.  Grab hold of the plastic bag to remove it.

Try it next time and see if you don't find it easier!

That is  unique way of doing it ... I'll have to try that one.  I used a small amount of powder or lotion, depending on the client.  Thanks for the tip!

I worked as a circulating surgical nurse for a year and the plastiic bag technique is how we put TED's on pt. after the surgery.  It works like a charm!

Smashing!  I'm glad I didn't have to wait 30 years!  Thanks Hollye!
