Posted about 4 years ago Hey Everyone! Just wondering if anyone has ever taken A&P online? A&P I and II are the only pre-requisites that are required for the ADN program at the college I attend. They are both offered in classroom this summer but this runs into a problem with me since I work full time and the college I attend is almost 2 hours away from where I work. They are also offered online. However, I know this is a very challenging course and was wondering if I should take it online. |

| Posted about 4 years ago From reading the post on here, I have heard that they are pretty hard clases. I know that you can't take them both at the same time. And as for online classes, I would try and take them in class if at all possible. What are they offering for the lab part? Sorry, I couldn't be of much help. I'm sure you will have replies from people who have had these classes. Good luck to you. You can do it! Sounds like you have a great start! Proud parent & wife. Would not be here without thier support! |

| Posted about 4 years ago I have taken A&P I and II online. I didn't have time to sit in a classroom. The labs were done by visual. Whatever the lab experiement was, I did then took pictures and submitted to my professor. That is how they know you did the experiement and then there was a short quiz on the experiment. Good luck |

Wow, that surprises me that a class this in dept would be offered online. I guess if you were really good at science you would feel confident enough about taking them online, but for me I feel I need of the interaction and actual visual for it to work and stick with me. It's also shocking to learn that they offer nursing online. Thats just crazy (IMO). I know we live in a busy world, but thiers only so much that can be learned online verses in the classroom. Good luck to both of you!!!

| Posted about 4 years ago Angie I'm like you - I feel I get more out of being in the class and visually seeing everything than doing it online. However, with my work schedule and being that the college I go to is almost 2 hours away from where I work - taking this course online seems to be what I am going to have to do. I am just going to have to discipline myself to work hard at it. Luckily I have a niece that is a nurse and passed A&P with a breeze - I am sure she can help me also. As for as nursing online - I have noticed on other posts people talking about that. I thought the only nursing offered online was the bridge over from ADN (registered nurse) to a BSN. I haven't heard of any online nursing programs for ADN. If anyone knows about this - let me know. |

| Posted about 4 years ago I haven't heard of any ADN nursing classes online either, only RN-BSN which I think is great because you already have the experience as an RN and can just do your classes online. My friend is doing her BSN online and that's what I plan on doing ONE day, if I ever get to that point! I've taken online classes before and loved them. But they weren't science courses. I would definitely try the online course in A&P. You probably need to be more disaplined and read a lot more, but I'm sure it can be done. In fact you may end up learning more and knowing it more than you would in the classroom because you have to be that much more on top of it to learn it.

| Posted about 4 years ago In my honest opinion, I think you should take it online. You can do anything you put your mind to.I t truly depends on how focused you are and how much you want it. They are hard classes, although I found anat 2 easier but you can do it. I know you work and everything and I don't know if you have kids but just organize your time and life. I still have a bit of probs with organizing my time but I get through it no matter what! If you can handle it, I say go for it! I believe you can do it.... |

| Posted about 4 years ago Taking A & P 1 and 2 online could be done but I enjoyed the study groups and hands on I got in the class room. As for testing out if it's offered I don't think it is - there is no way I would do that because it's the base for some of the core Nursing classes and If you don't know it inside and out it would be real hard to pass the nursing classes. We were able to take A&P 2 with our first nursing classes and some people in class had a real hard time doing it that way because the nursing instructors expected us to already know the stuff. I mean A&P is where you learn all the bones and muscles and systems. You really have to know this stuff or you will be lost when you get into Adult Nursing or Med/Surg classes. I'm taking my BSN-MSN online now but I already have an ADN. I know there are LPN to RN and RN to BSN to MSN online but you have to be an LPN to take the online classes. Even if it is online you still have clinical classes you have to take for most of them to get the hands on you will need. Good Luck to every one. Nursing it's how I live my life..... |

| Posted about 4 years ago I am in an ADN program now. I am very surprised that A&P 1 & 2 are the only pre-reqs. We had to have Microbiology, Chemistry and many other classes to get into the program. Personally I like taking classes online. Once in the program there are no classes offered online at my school. You spend days in class as well as labs and you have your clinical days. I do add one online class each semester though as I am working toward a masters at the same time. If you want to take a class online it is important that you know how you learn. If you are not good at teaching yourself and keeping up with the work and you are prone to procrastination you would be better to take classes in the class room. I took Chem 2 online and had to go to the school for lab. This worked out well. I basically taught myself but if I had any questions I was able to ask the lab teacher. Bottom line it is up to you and knowing yourself and how you learn best to determine if you take online or campus classes. I hope this helps you decide. |

| Posted about 4 years ago I also enjoy taking online classes, especially when you have other responsibilities. If taking it online is your only option then I would say go for it to meet your ultimate goal which is getting into nursing school . The only thing I would make sure the school you are wanting to attend will accept the course. Another thing to think about in my opinion, by taking a virtual lab you might be missing the excitement (lol) and experience of hands on lab practice. Personally ( although it was a challenge to go to class at times), I found the experience of a classroom Lab in A&P 1 and 2 really helpful with getting comfortable using my hands, as well as "degrossing" myself to certain things. For example dissecting the cat, the heart, lungs etc. I would be concerned that this element of "hands on" experience would be missing on an online course. If you find that as well maybe you can check if they offer a course that has the instructional portion online and you would have to only meet for the lab portion maybe on the weekends or evenings. Which ever you decide good luck and keep going, do not take NO for an answer!! 3 years later after taking one course a semester mostly at night with three kids and a husband- I have been accepted into the program and will be starting my clinicals, so I know that it can seem almost impossible some times so Hang in there! |
