To my knowledge the only "chewable" iron supplement is like a children's multi-vitamin. All of the ones I have ever tried that included iron have a metallic taste to them.

yeah, the ones I take do taste like metal. I also tried a liquid iron from the vitamin outlet store and that tasted so bad I could not even get the second teaspoon down. Waste of $24.00

The vitimins are the best way for me, but I would need to take 10 a day for them to have any effect on me. At least I would get the beneifts of the vitimins and minerals.

Thanks for the reply.

When I used to do long term care, we used to give out flintstones chewables multivitamins.  I think if you go toward the kids vitamins, that's probably the best tasting that your going to get for Iron.

I take 2 flintones everyday and love them. However, I would need a lot of them in order to get the amount of iron that I need everyday.

It's too bad that someone dosen't come out with a chewable iron tablet that actually taste good. Now, that would sell !!!!

You're better off getting as much iron as possible from your diet than from vitamins. Eat LOTS of spinach (hopefully you like spinach!) and other leafy greens. There are many different ways to cook it and raw is good as well. You can also drink it if you have a juicer and can tolerate the taste. Red meat is iron rich, but unfortunately it's high in cholesterol and saturated fats, so don't go overboard on it. If you can get organic grass-fed beef it's much better nutritionally and environmentally. It tastes better, too. Also, be careful with the multi-vitamins, if you take too many of them daily trying to get iron you will way overdose on other vitamins and minerals. Good luck and feel better!

also, never take iron with a calcium product (glass of milk)...iron and calcium bind and you get the benefit of neither.  Better absorption occurs when you take it with vitamin C......but not OJ fortified with calcium.
