I also completed my CNA training while in high school and your right the clinicals are differnt from actually doing the job.  During clinical I was sure that I would never ever do geriatrics but I did do it and I love it.  loriloby is right you have to have a routine.  My first job was doing home health which was a good start and my second was at a nursing home where I really learned a lot about patient care.  I also worked in the hospital which was totally different from either of the previous two.  If you plan on going on to become a nurse then working as a CNA is a great start.  You will get to see a lot of different things and gain experience dealing with patients.  When I went back for my LPN my CNA experience really helped me because even though I had not done certain procedures I had been exposed to them because I had seen nurses do them a million times.  Being a CNA really helps because in nursing school you start off by learning basic nursing skills and you will be ahead of the game.  It  can be hard being a cna at times but it is extremely rewarding.
