Posted about 4 years ago Probably all my questions have already been answered if I'd read on LOL. Anyway here I go, I'm 38 and currently at a dead end road in my life with a business I've worked at for 20 years, I have been self employed in the antique business and have lost most everything with the economy and have recently been thinking about starting a new career in the nursing field. What recommendations can ya'll help me decide? Should I start out as a CNA, or just go to the LPN and onto the RN. I'm kind of broke so I do need to earn some money working as I do go to school. Any help would be appreciated as I need to make a decison soon. Thanks Bruce |

| Posted about 4 years ago My personal viewpoint is to begin as a CNA, especially if you have no healthcare experience. Look into grants, student loans etc to help you finance your education. Most colleges have this information, as well as searching the internet. |

| Posted about 4 years ago Hello, What do you want to do?
Hello, My suggestion is the following: A. Do you have a degree? If you do, go the fast track RN and you can obtain a RN. B. No, degree RN, find a two year program and sit for the NCLEX pass. Seek a job. Then go for the 30 credits online for your BA. C. Do not go for the CNA or LPN it will be 3 yrs behind of your RN and Five years total to reach your RN. It will cost a lot of money going this route. MONEY for TUTION, BOOKS & SUPPLIES: Seek a hospital that will pay for your schooling. There are several hospitals willing to pay for your schooling in exchange work commitment by a student. It’s a guaranteed job and sometimes bonuses are involved too. Private scholarships are available for nursing students. Be creative as two of my friends …..They ask their small town to put them through school in return they would work for community health and take of them for each year of tuition paid. They are the first community nurses in their home town and they are fulfilling their commitment to the towns’ people. Federal Student Loan and work in a low income area or health disparity area and some of the loans will be repaid. DO NOT TAKE PRIVATE LOANS
