Posted almost 6 years ago When I was in school we all wore New Balances and we always said that the "N" on the side of the shoe stood for nurse!

Posted over 5 years ago The best shoes i have used for work have been a brand called NAOTS. They are wonderful. My arches are falling and these have a removeable sole incert that can be replaced with orthotics. But once I started wearing them i didn't need the orthotic inserts....they work great with the ones they come with!

Posted over 5 years ago I'm in my second pair of i-rocs (i-roc.com). They have saved my life. They are consturcted in such a way that when you stand flat, you are neither on your toes or heels. Helped some back pain I'd get too.

Posted over 5 years ago And I remember the old lace up clinic shoes. I'd always have mine polished and really shiney.

Posted over 5 years ago I agree with Beckie - I use NAOTS too, and they work great. Mine a getting a bit roughed up though, so I'll probably get a new pair in the near future. Oldnurse - how did you hear about i-rocs? I've never heard of them, how much do they usually cost?

Posted over 5 years ago PittNuuse - One of the former travelors that worked in my unit was married to a physical therapist and he found them for her. She was wearing them at work and I went to the web site and bought a pair. They are up to $150 now. I don't know how I'd work without them! Check out i-roc.com.

Posted over 5 years ago A recent article describes the efforts that are being made by one hospital to provide nurses with more comfortable shoes. What should all health care facilities be doing to ease nurses' foot pain?

Posted over 5 years ago THank God we can wear shoes other than those Nurse mates! My feet would kill me. Those clinics were made for death to the feet if you were around then Ha Ha... I wear New Balance and they are great for my feet. I want to try those i-rocs though. I need somthing to help these dogs they bark from time to time. I need a shoe to just not die and take my feet hostage with them after a few hours of pounding the pavement as we all do.

Posted over 5 years ago I read evey body's posts and didn't hear any body mention Ecco. I wear New Balance and Naot off work, but they are not supportive enough for me at work for 12 hours. I used to wear Birkenstock, until I discovered Ecco. I've got a pair of Aesics I can use sometimes, but I'm saving up--literally--for a pair of Finn Country Comfort shoes. I bought a pair of sandals by that company and they felt like somebody had taken a piece of heaven and wrapped it around my feet. I found the company on-line and picked out a pair of closed toe shoes I'm planning to get when my current Aesics and Ecco's wear out. They are a major investment though. Have never been able to wear Nurse Mate or Dansko, due to high arches. I know many people love those, but for me it's Ecco and Finn Country Comfort, wth Aesics a close 3rd. For as long and hard as we work, we deserve VERY GOOD shoes!

Posted over 5 years ago I have been looking and someone suggested ZCoils. Also have heard about MBT. Both are $200.00 plus. I am giving them some thought. Now that I am working in the jail, I am on concrete floors for 10 hrs a day. .

Posted over 5 years ago Never heard of Naots. I'll have to check them out. I have tried about everything from merrills to danskos and I have to say crocs are the best. I think they are the most repulsive looking shoes every made but when I leave after a 12 hour shift I don't feel like my feet are about to fall off. I know a great deal of people swear by dansko's but I have a pair and can't wear them they hurt my feet after about six hours.

Posted over 5 years ago Original Bass shoes with steell support and hand sewn tops were the ultimate many years ago when they were made in Maine. Bass of China does not even make them any more. So I wear Dansko. They're ok.

Posted over 5 years ago well, I tried the ugly MBT. Just could not make them work for me. I just switched out the MBT for spira. They have springs in them felt pretty good in the store. Suggestion. Have your feet measured. Most of us are wearing the wrong size shoe.

Posted over 5 years ago For clinicals I bought a pair of Jasco's for 29.99 that I love. I have had nursemate's, danskos, etc.. and I have to say that the Jasco's cheapies are by far the most comfortable.
