I know this post is  little old, but I am researching and trying to find out if anybody has tried the American red Cross shoes. They look like they would be comfy but I hate to buy shoes online and find out that they are terrible.

I like croc's.  About an hour ago, someone's foley bag sprung a leak right on my foot.  If it were sneaks, I'd have to run them through the washer.  All I have to do is take a wet wipe and clean it off.  Hazard of Nursing, people leaking on your shoes.....I like crocs!

I have bought two pairs of dansco's and I am not that impressed with the shoes.  Some say that I bought that wrong size but unsure about that. I know I paid a butt load of money for shoes that were supposed to change the way my feet feel after working 12 hour shifts.  But they haven't yet.  My feet swell and the shoes become too tight.  If I ever do purchase another pair maybe I need to get mens because by the end of my shift my feet are so swollen that they end of rubbing all the wrong areas.  The white dansco's scuff up easily!!!!

my white danskos were a pain with the scuffing.  I like my black oiled ones better.  It is hard to find just the right fit with these shoes. I have narrow feet so the 39 N works good for me.  Too bad they don't make wide widths.  I like the fact that my knees and back no longer hurt after being on my feet for 12 hours.  They take awhile to get used to..but they were so worth it for me.

i swear by my quarks.  they last 3-5 yrs and have replaceable insoles.  Not a clog, you slip the foot in.  Have to order from a uniform store about $55 and are wide naturally.   washable/hoseable for the job leaks.  I also wear K swiss and New balance with the hard thick soles.  I rotate q daily.    The key is to rotate your shoes and replace tennis shoes 3-4 months if you work 30-40 hrs wk.  The shoe breaks down inside for us before the outside.  Second, wear the support trouser socks if your like me and don't do the pantyhose thing.  The are in all the mags and are in colors too!    nursemates =rockers.  same company different tag.  crocs breakdown to quickly and are absolutely a no to any resident in a nursing home!!  the help the resident fall d/t grabbing the floor.  Many places here in IL will not allow clogs unless in surgery or any holes on top of shoes so Quarks work 'cause they have only side vents at instep.   Just remember what your budget is, rotation, and what your employeer allows.

Each nurse will have their own pick.  Me personally I like tennis shoes Reebok classics, Nike, or Kswiss

I have a wide foot and a low arch.  I like the SAS shoes.  For me I like the lace up shoe, called Free Time.  They run about $90 to $100. a pair, but, I find them to be very comfortable.  They have a removable pad inside that is flat when the shoe is new, and when you wear the shoes, the pad molds to your foot, for a more customized fit.

I have also worn REYKA walking shoes. They are made on a last mold of a woman's foot, not a mans last, of which some sport shoes are made up for a unisex fit.   they are also very comfortable.

Shoes sometimes are like men, you have to kiss a few frogs to find the right Prince or in this case fit!  Sorry guys!

Paddymac I have a pair of Reyka sandles and yes they are not the cutiest they are so comfortable.  But I am going to get the Danskos and I am also looking at the Z-coils too.   I had some Sketchers a couple of years ago and I loved them might try those again too as a backup.

I love my merrills and new balance.  I dont think quarks are great for running around in the hospital, but for clinic work they're ok.

I went with the Nike's since they were the only ones I could find in WIDE.  Is it that gosh darn hard for shoe companies to make a wide shoe???  WTH???

Anyhoo....they rock!  I usually have knee and back pain if I'm on my feet too long.....with these I can't even tell I've been standing all day.

I would have to agree with marikit regarding the Ecco brand.  I bought a pair, and they are the most comfortable boots that I have ever worn.  I have a pair of the Ecco shoes too, but the boot really does it for me.  Everybody's feet are different.  I have a difficult time finding something in any price range that REALLY fits and is comfortable too.  Ecco did right by me.

Love my Dansko's they do scuff up an bit and you need to try them on before you buy them.  Each is hand sewn and fit a little different

I tried wearing my Nikes one day to a 12 hour clinical and my feet were killing me after 4 hours.  With Danskos they never hurt
