Ecco's are by far the best, but I don't wear them to work cuz I don't want to take the chance of getting bodily fluids on them. So, I wear my Merrell slip-ons. If you ever put them on, you'll never wear anything else. Crocs make my arches cramp.......I need support. I just ordered my second pair of Merrell primo breeze in black after wearing the first pair for 7 years. They still look great, but my daughter has been begging me to give them to her.

I hate crocs, they don't give me the ankle support I need when standing and walking around all day. I love Nike Shox, I have worn them since they first came out. They are great and cute!

I love Dansko shoes, and that's all I've ever worn (some of the Dansko styles are now made by Sanita, but they are the same shoe).

They're kinda expensive, but I've never EVER had foot or leg pain after work.

The Sketcher shape-ups win that prize for me hands down.  I have tried all kinds of shoes through nursing school and working - New Balance, Dansko's, Crocs, Nike Air Max... and the shape-ups win by a mile!

I've tried new balance and some of the other brands mentioned, but the best I've ever worn are Nike Shox with Q-factor insoles.  The shoes are comfortable enough on their own, but the insoles come with a one year, no questions asked comfort guarantee.  After 14 hours on my feet, I still feel great.  LOVE them.

The ones i have used are Nurse Mates, Marci style

these are very good

i work Min 12hr shifts and they have

zero braking in time ( so no sore toes)

Seem to do well after doing showers and getting a little wet.

well priced and very durable

I just made sure i waterproofed them with some Dublin first.

The amount of

footwear I  have gone through alot and i found these the best

also Doc Martins are quite good but expensive.

I have MBTs, they retail for $250. I was fitted in a store and then found a discontinued color online for $90. They are ugly but they have helped with my chin splints.

My issue with Crocs is the holes. And the body fluids that have the potential to spill. Through the holes. They make them without the holes, but nobody seems to wear them in the hospital where I work. Just sayin.

What about Nurse mates?

I'm starting nursing school this fall and need all with leather shoes, no crocs or clogs!

I wear these (Nike Shox classic II) in white and silver... http://www.footlocker.com/catalog/productdetail/model_nbr--100968/sku--43900111&SID=8732&inceptor=1&cm_mmc=SEO-_-Feeds-_-Froogle-_-null

they are super comfortable and I get lots of compliments on them from the nursing staff and even patients. A lot of other students bought the nursing shoes recommended by the uniform store and their feet are hurting all day but not mine :)

Cape Clogs, last a lifetime and are very comfortable. They come in really cute prints - leaopard print, skull print, flowers, dots, etc. They also offer some in solid colors too. They are made in Sweden, each one individually made.

I am partial to Oxpas. Comfort of Crocs but I just don't like Crocs http://www.scrubs123.com/footwear-and-fun/footwear-and-socks.html?brand=399

Sketchers all the way.  Both laced and unlaced styles are so comfortable that I never even think of my feet.  Almost hate to take them off!

I went through a couple of pairs in school that were ok, and only my shape-ups let me work my 12 hour shifts with minimal pain.

I forgot to mention I have very large feet, also. 12 women's. That makes it hard to have as much variety, as well. I usually get 11 men's.

Dansko are the best!  I never have any leg fatigue and I stand on my feet about 13-14 hours a day.  They cost about $120.00 but are worth it.  They last a long time.  The are very stylish too!!

What I do know about shoes, I no longer try to buy a cheap pair. You usually get what you pay for!

have had good luck with dansko/sanrita (they now have canvas ones for <60$) the other shoe that I can do a 12-14 hour shift in is Ryka's athletics....took some break in time with the danskos before I could RUN in them ...agree with CDnurse...always get fit checked....10 pounds in weight loss/gain can change your fit.

It seems there are just a few Nursemates fans- I love them and have used them for 20+ yrs. I've tried others over the years but always return to NM!
