When my oldest son was 15, we had alot of problems with him. We all went to family therapy. The theapist told us to find one good thing he did each day and concentrate on that instead of all the bad things. What good thing did you do today? (We could use this in nursing too. Alot of nurses seem to have negative attitudes.)

For me, it is still early 9am. So I haven't done anything..yet. At dinner time, my family and I like to talk about the happenings in the day and go around the table asking what was the good thing that happened and the good thing they did for another. It is a good conversation piece and can be very intresting.

I told a stranger, that had mentioned she was in a hurry to drive safe. She stopped, visably took a deep breath, smiled and me and told me to do the same.

I spent extra time with my dementia patient and his wife who was visibly upset at her husbands situation.
