Spectralink phones in Nursing

Posted about 4 years ago Does anybody by any chance have spectralink phones on the units they work?I'm asking, beacuse these are fairly new to nursing, and I find it rude and intrusive that you are expected to answer this thing when doing pt care. I feel the pt deserves my full attention when I'm at their bedside. Also, with HIPPA being such a big thing, isn't that kind of risky? Some may say, leave the room to discuss other pt's, but sometimes you can't. Sometimes, if I'm doing a dressing cahnge or IV, I don't answer it. Problem is , the charge nurse gets all flummonxed if you do that. Shouldn't Pt care come first?A doc called me once to get her a pelvic set-up in CS. I was in the middle of doing a dressing change, and really could not answer. I guess the charge nures got it, but then I was chastised for not answering bt that nurse. Of course I explained thet I was knee deep in bloody dressings, but she did not seem to think that was important. Apparrantly the doc making outrageous demand was more of a priority to her. Idiot. Sad part is these so called charge nurses have been nurses all of 1-2 years and are clueless and on a power trip. Claire Kruszka |
