Posted about 4 years ago I really don't want to go to a nursing school but alot of people said it helps. I just want to go to a University or College. Who went to nursing school and thought it was better than going to a university or college? |

Posted about 4 years ago I don't understand this question because the nursing school i go to is at a university and you have to be accepted to both.

Posted about 4 years ago I think you may mean a "Diploma school" - no degree, but you can become an RN. I already had other degrees, so i chose a diploma school - I find they give the best clinical education. Plus, they will send you for about 30 college credits anyway as part of the program. After we became RN's we were far more capable and comfortable working on the hospital unit than our fellow RN's who graduated with a BSN. But, more and more positions are requiring a BSN for employment or advancement. You can always start at a diploma school, or an Associate Degree program - you will become an RN more quickly that way - then you can take courses and earn your BSN if you like. There's a lot to consider.

Posted about 4 years ago Either you and your mother are confused or I'm WAAAAAAAY out of touch. It's my understanding that there are not any free-standing colleges of nursing. The term "college of nursing" is typically in reference of the nursing program at a particular school...i.e. "Oklahoma University College of Nursing". If you dont' want to go to nursing school why are you worried about it?

Posted about 4 years ago If your not sure about going to a nursing school, go for a CNA and then decide if nursing is for you.

Posted about 4 years ago Another thing you could try is volunteering. Maybe in a nursing home or in a hospital. The ER is a great place to volunteer. Just an idea to help get you going. Good luck.!

Posted about 4 years ago There are other schools out there like Tech schools to become an LPN or LVN (Depending on the state) is this what you mean? I wouldn't recommend that because if you do want to get your RN later you have to take all the pre-reqs to get into it and it's more of a hassle than it's worth. Get it all over with at once. I was going to just do my ADN and get my BSN later, but I might be moving to California and I will just go straight to the BSN if that happens. It's probably easier that way.
