I will be taking my NCLEX in October. Can anyone tell me what the job process is like?

Can I apply and secure a job before I take my NCLEX so that I have a job right away?

How many intervies are there? Is it like going to one interview and they tell me "You're hired" ?

If I wanted to move to another state (Scottsdale, Arizona), can secure a job there from NY? Do I go there for an interview?

Will hospitals hire you two months before you want to start working?

Any help would be great. Thanks!!

You are very smart to be thinking about this now. It is not too early. Get some interviews, even for jobs you don't think are within reach. Every interview makes you better at it.

Typically, you will interview with a panel of nurse managers. At first, this is very intimidating because they have been nurses for a long time and can see right through you. Answer the questions the best you can. Ask them questions too, they love that. Ask things like "What do you expect from me as an employee?" "What did you  do when you first started out as a nurse?"  Loosen it up a little - smile, make eye contact, be professional but be relaxed too. You want them to get an idea of how you will be as an employee.

Several of us went to job fairs during nursing school. I graduated on a Friday and started hospital orientation the following Tuesday. I had not even passed the boards yet! One of my classmates had a job waiting for her in another state, so it can be done. A license from NY is gold anywhere you go.

Good luck to you.

How do you have a job waiting for you in another state? I really want to move to another state and I wish I had a job waiting for me as well, I just don't know how to do that (sigh).
