Posted about 4 years ago Hello everyone. I'm a rn of 14yrs. & I currently work on a med/surg. unit. I know of a doctor of charted on a pt. he never saw. The pt. has received a large bill for this. This is fraud. What is the first thing the pt. should do? Thanks. |

| Posted about 4 years ago I think someone must know. I'd say it was up to you the person who knows of the fraud, to report it. If you are afraid go to a lawyer. Choose well as they are just as corrupt as doctors and some will relay back what you are doing. |

| Posted about 4 years ago Wow, this is a very scary and serious situation for you to be in. I'm really sorry that you had to be subjected to it. It's so difficult because you want to do the right thing, which is report the fraud, but on the other hand there may be repercussions involved for you if you report it even though you have done nothing wrong. I would be concerned also that if someone else reported it and it was realized that I had known about it and kept it to myself, for whatever reason (fear of retaliation mostly), that I could still end up jobless or black balled. In the end, your conscience will be your guide and I'm sure you wil do the right thing. Good luck. ~ Laugh as much as you breath and love as long as you live ~ |

| Posted almost 4 years ago I would report this doc to the director of the hospital. A good man loves other. A better man loves God. A great man loves God and lives well among others! I miss you daddy!

| Posted almost 4 years ago An ethical person would report the doctor. Yes there is a possibility of retaliation but as an ethical nurse it is your obligation to do it. John L. Racher RN, BSN, MSRN-BC
