Posted over 5 years ago I would like your opinions on what venue of nursing is the best preparation for becoming a nurse practitioner. Med/surg? ICU? Emergency? Outpatient? Home Health? Why? |

| Posted over 5 years ago Let me clarify my question. I was wondering if working as an RN in a particular setting before applying to grad school would make a difference in how prepared I would be to function as a nurse practitioner. |

| Posted over 5 years ago I am currently finishing my Bachelors so I can start the nurse practitioner program. Honestly I am terrified. I hate to write papers and am not very good at it. Every one I turn in I just cringe waiting on the grade. I would love some encouragement from someone who knows what I am going through. I am a single 37 yr old mother with three great daughters. This college thing has changed alot since I graduated 16 yrs ago. |

I would take advantage of the mobility that you have as a nurse to explore different areas before you decide on a particular NP track. Hope this helps! |

Not how I wanted to do it "but you gotta do what you gotta do!" I started pre-reqs for nursing when I was 30 years old. Now am 40 and finished for now unless I decide to go back for the DNP. (but not right now!) |
