Hi,

In 1981 I earned my certification in Medical Assisting and then went on and finished 1/2 of an RN program.  Now I'm interested in becoming an CNA or LPN.  Does anyone know a good program where I can transfer the credits I already have?  Or are there companies hiring out there where you can work and they will pay for your schooling?  I know the health care is hurting now for nurses, etc.  Thank you!

Around here nothing would transfer.  I was a medical assistant for years and wanted to test out of my CNA but the state said NO--had to go through CNA training.  No biggie just cost me some money.  I need the CNA for nursing school.  Here you have to have the CNA before you can even apply to LPN or RN school.  Also most places here won't let credits transfer that are over 10 yrs old (some humanities will but that is about it and not all colleges allow that).  Don't know if that is much help but good luck!!

I don't think you can transfer CMA credits for nursing because they are in two different categories. MA deals more with Medical Assistance and CNA deals moe with nursing. That's why CNA's are able to get hired a little quicker than MA's. But some MA do end up working as CNA's because of the shortages in Jobs in some states. But MA's can work in lots of other areas. But that is why your MA credits may not be transferrable. Had thay been LPN credits yes.
