| Posted about 1 year ago I have a few people that inspire me!! First and foremost--my loving husband (he's a cardiac RN). He believes in me and is very supportive (emotionally and financially). My daughter--she is my biggest fan and reminds me that I can do anything that I put my mind to. My parents and brother--with their love and support in this education and also for the support they gave me when I went for my first associate degree back in 1990. Cdnurse has been very inspirational since I began talking with her on this site.

| Posted about 1 year ago I finished nursing school due to one of my instructors - most of the students were scared to death of her but I really liked her - she was a tiny lady with a big personality - I had a horrible personal crisis over Christmas during my final year of nursing school - and she stopped me in the hall, and said, "Do you know what the secret to success is? Just don't quit." Here I am, working as a tele nurse at our local hospital for ten years now, taking care of acutely ill patients. |

| Posted about 1 year ago My parents inspire me. They have always been there, cheering me on and supporting me. They have been such wonderful role models. Both are hard working, honest, kind, fun........ I could go on and on about them. I just love them to pieces, and I feel truly blessed to have them as my mom and dad! When I stand before God at the end of my life I would hope I would not have a single bit of talent left and could say, I used everything you gave me. -Erma Bombeck |

| Posted about 1 year ago There are many people in my life who inspire me: my brothers, my boyfriend, my parents, my co-workers, and many of my patients. These people keep me going daily when I feel myself becoming frustrated by hospital politics and red tape, and they remind me of my purpose and why I decided to become a nurse in the first place. |

| Posted about 1 year ago There are several people in my life that inspire me. My parents.....My Mom- she always told her kids that they could do whatever they set their minds to. My beloved Dad who passed away in 2001 (Happy Birthday 10/12!) would be so proud that I graduated from nursing school at age 51. When I was inducted into the Honor Society in 2005, we had to prepare a little speech. Naturally, I wanted to thank my parents. I got a little emotional when one of the professors read our little speech to each of us before we went into the auditorium. She asked me if my parents were there that night. Through my tears, I said only my mother. The professor gave me a hug and said..."Your Dad is here, too." My husband- always believing in me especially during nursing school. He was always there to lift my spirits when I thought I couldn't make it. He would not let me give up on my dream of becoming a nurse when I felt that it was too demanding. My husband and my 2 kids were always doing whatever they could around the house, knowing that I was overwhelmed by all the expectations of the nursing program. I'm so thankful that they would not let me throw in the towel. |

| Posted about 1 year ago My mom is my inspiration. I saw in her the respect and trust people give you as their care provider and as a person. She can truly lead and show her fairness in all her decision as a leader. I liked how she showed compassion and how she have helped people around her...even deliver their babies at home. She has so much courage to perform her love for nursing which is caring. I love her so much and miss her a lot. |

| Posted about 1 year ago Who inspries me is a professor named Dr. Walker, when I wanted to give up on my dream of a career in Health care she told me to keep my head up and was there for me. Now I graduate in March of 09 with a AAS in Medical Assisting. I will proably go continue my education, however I would of gave up, if not for some kind, but strong words from her. |

| Posted about 1 year ago The person who inspired me the most was my mother. She was a devoted nurse and she worked all the time to make ends meet. She loved her job and used to come home and talk about her patients. As I got older and graduated from high school, and after trying odd jobs like cashier and customer service jobs. I just wasn't satisfied. I then became a nursing assistant, then certified med aide and then an lpn. This is several marriages and kids later! And i must say I ve never been happier being able to help those and minister to those who cant help themselves and i give special attention to the elderly in dedication to my grandmother who passed while i was in nursing school! |

| Posted about 1 year ago So many who have inspired me, besides my parents, grandparents, teachers, patients, other nurses, nurses and students here. My Great Aunt Anna, who was a holocaust survivor. She told me stories about life in a camp, the hunger, the thirst, the continual, pervasive fear that surrounded her and others. The cruelty of humanity, the kindness of humanity, the unselfish acts of a very few. The selfish acts of many. |

| Posted about 1 year ago My mom and my husband have always been my biggest support. They always tell me how proud they are of me and they encourage me when things get tough. My husband suported me financially and emotionally (I needed much emotional support) through nursing school. I think he was happier than I was when I graduated! He supported me when I quit working at the hospital and went back to nursing in a physician's office. He understood the great stress and strain that I was under working in the hospital and that it just wasn't for me. My mom always keeps me in prayer. She is a wonderful, Godly woman who inspires me in so many ways. I am blessed. |

| Posted about 1 year ago Wow...this is a very difficult question because I have a lot of people in my life that inspire me in different ways. First of all my lovely husband of 4 years (Tim). He is always by my side through thick and thin. I worry about a lot of things in the world but he always encourages me to beleive in myself and sometimes things I feel like I can not do he assures me that nothing is impossible if I put my heart into it. He is someone I can always rely on in life and I am glad I have him. The other person that comes to mind is my grandma...she is very dependent, confident and a good person at heart and I hope to take after her. The rest will be my family and friends. My little sister who is 6 years inspires me so much because if I am stress or unhappy she is always there for me and tries to make my happy. Some of my friends are wonderful people because they give good advise and send words of encouragement anytime I need it. All these people make my life brighter each day and keeps me going and doing what I love. I am blessed to have them in my life and love them so much. God bless! |

| Posted about 1 year ago I am fortunate to have many people to inspire me. Sister Pierre, was my biology teacher in high school. Everyone was scared of her. She was gruff and strict. She challenged me and guide me. I was a 23 year old medical assistant--divorced with a little girl-- working at a Derm clinic. A doctor there became my mentor. He convinced me to go to college and helped arrange babysitting while I went at night. I was tutored at lunch and right after work. That was 30 yrs ago. I still keep in touch with him. |

| Posted about 1 year ago My surrogate mom and dad, both in heaven, were both incredibly inspiring. They showed me an unparalelled patience and understanding, even as an adolescent. Had they given up on me, my life would look far different today. So what did they do? My dad was there, every day after work. My mom was also, but never missed an opportunity to challenge my thoughts (or at that time, the lack thereof). Therre is no substitute for proper child-rearing, no matter how hard it seems at the time. At the age of 11, they brought stability and sensibility to a life that had heretofore been, 'mixed well and shaken'. Their influence and consistency in raising me in a Prebyterian church community, led to my own discovery of the reality of 'The God Who is There"(author-Dr. Francis Schaeffer). Although I married young, they didn't write me off for it. They remained my family and I was always proud of them.

| Posted about 1 year ago Who has inspired me.... well first and foremost, my grandfather, who always told me to do what I wanted. He always pushed me to strive to be the best I could be in all things. It's been a long time since he passed, but now that I am in school, I do feel I am honoring him by doing what I finally want for me! |

| Posted about 1 year ago I do not know that I was inspired by one person, but I was always told I could accomplish anything I set my mind to. I was definitaly influanced by teachers and the woman that stood up and took a stand in the 70's. My grandfather once told me to listen and take in all the advice I was given then deciede what was best for me and do it. So I guss I am influanced by the people around me. But because I listened to my grandfather I learned to use critical thinking skills very early in life. I believe a well rounded life is important so influances should come from the many faciets of a persons life not just from people but books and hobbies and livleyhoods. Rember to take in all that you can use what you need and save the rest for another day. |

| Posted about 1 year ago I was a housekeeper in a hospital and wanted to transfer to be a nursing assistant. My boss said she did not think I was smart enough to be a CNA. Signed up for nursing school that day! It is now 30 years later. Sometimes a negative does create a positive. The difficulty lies not so much in developing new ideas as in

| Posted 11 months ago I suspect that although I know only a little about her, I have been a supporter of Gov. Sarah Palin (whether y'all agree or not) PRIMARILY because she inspires me. The presidential political bulldozer hardly ruffled her sometime already disheaveled hair. Well, perhaps that is the reason she inspires me. I don't think I've had a good hair day in over a year :-). Winter has arrived and my feet are freezing. I need to simply go get myself some good Alaskan Muckluks to keep my toes warm. I can't imagine working and living in THAT climate every day. You northeasterners can plug your ears....I know you are already pros at that. Jeannie |

| Posted 10 months ago Please don't laugh if I go again on this...but, Ted Turner. He inspires me because I have read his early book about how he started out in the advertising business after his dad died. A more recent reason is his willingness to express his dreams and hopes on TV. He was interviewed last month on public TV by a USC professor and it aired this evening. The reasons: 1. Not afraid to go against the grain (started his own All News Network-CNN). 2. Not afraid to leverage that success as a bully pulpit to the fast food community to care about the content of the wrappers, bags, and containers going into landfills. 3. Used to display 20 year old McDonald's wrappers at the prestigious CNN Center (Atlanta) to make his point-They were not yet decomposed. 4. Ater years as a entrepreneur in the Media and Ad business, selectively scaled down his involvements to target 3 particular dreams. 5. Successfully published new book, "Call Me Ted". 6. Changed from TV and Satellite business to Restaurant business and bought up his own Montana Bison to do it. 6. Had a teachable enough attitude to go to work at Time-Warner (major corporation) after years of being a successful solo capitalist and learned to express himself more eloquently. Anyhow, these things are facinating to me! Jeannie |

| Posted 5 months ago My Grandmother inspires me. She was and still is my biggest cheerleader. Not only did she assit me financially when I was a struggling divorced mother, but she also paid for me to go back to school and get my RN. I've always called her my guardian angel on earth. I hope I can follow in her footsteps and help the underdog. I tell her all the time how greatful I am that she had faith in me, and loved and supported me through thick and thin. Memere, I love you! | Posted 4 months ago Both by example, and an inspiration, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He got on his knees and washed the feet of HIS servants, He LOVED (AGAPE and PHILEO) the "unloveable", the tax collector Mark, the woman "with and issuance of blood", the boy taken over by "Legion" who had seizures, and was feared by everyone. The last 2 years of my Grandmothers life, I would wash her feet and legs every day I was with her. While I know it made her feel better, I realized how much it helped me. My grandmother was my "Human" inspiration, and the person I always took my problems to. Now BOTH my sons, one now 18 and the other 16, are either working in health care as an aide, or planning on a carrer in health care in the military. I did not encourage OR discourage this direction, they took it from watching me, my aunt, my uncle, and others they respected. Our nursing careers were inspired by Clara Barton, who was inspired by the Lord. Also those who have studied the history know that the first "Professional Nurses" were a group of Knights, who cared for the injured on the battlefield. They ALL took an oath to follow Christ. May our Lord bless all of you in your careers. Paul Johnson, RN God bless all, Paul |
