It is becoming a shortage due to the fact that the older nurses are retiring and less younger people are choosing this profession to go into to. Plus, it has become a lot harder and more challenging to get into top nursing programs. To get into my program, you had to set up an interview with the director of the program and talk with her about why you wanted to be chosen, and what did you expect to accomplish while there. I had to compete with over 30 applicants, and this program only took 19, with me being one of them. I also had to take the NET exam, and you had to make a above average on this test to even get an application for the LPN program, and once you passed your interview and the NET, you were picked to attend a MEDICAL MATH class. You had to attend and pass this class, before you became a part of the next LPN class of juniors. It's just real competitive and the programs can impose whatever stipulations required for you to enter. So, I wish all who are trying to enter a nursing program, GOOD LUCK and GOD BLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I too, agree, but, Every thing is so expensive in so many ways. stock, nursing coverage, building, equiptment, don't get me started on wages. Lets not forget the pharm., companies, and insurance companies, etc. So there you go, there is no shortage, there's not enough money to go round. The amazing thing though, is that the patient gets shortage of saff. Sorry, Teresa
