| Posted 7 months ago Hello, Cymbalta was used as a nerve blocker for my spinal cord injury. My pain physician used Cymbalta and Lyrica together and the sharpness would be dull which control the chronic pain. However, the acute pain was not control by the two drugs. Cymbalta is a slow reacting medication which takes 2-4 weeks to effect the body as well as Lyrica.
Believe, the depression would be successfully treated with Cymbalta and a short onset antidepressant medication such as Wellbutrin, Prozac, etc. I am not a psychiatrist and I cannot prescribe medication to anyone. I am just throwing out suggestions.
Cymbalta and Wellbutrin do not show the effect of weight gain to many of the users. Some people may gain weight and notify their physician or psychiatrist who prescribed the medications. Cymbalta and Wellbutrin will decrease the appetite and the weight should be monitor.
My suggestion is Cymbalta can affect each person differently just as any type of medication. Only way one will know is to experience it for oneself for seven months and reevaluate.
Good Luck. Oh, I do not take narcotic because I am a Nurse. I want a clear mind to make a good sound critical decision. If I made a mistake, I would not want anyone to scream “the narcotics” gave her poor decisions/judgments. I choose for myself not to be on narcotics and deal with the acute/chronic pain. I will not be hooked on any medications.
